Default Ty's FJ40 Ascender

Got my Ascender kit today, starting the build as I type! This will be my first Toyota build (I'm a Jeep guy) and I decided to do an FJ40 like this one:

Specs:

Tamiya FJ40 body
Tekin FXR
Tekin T30 Pro
Spektrum SR2000
RC4WD 1.5 Steelies
RC4WD 1.5 Mud Thrashers

MOAR to come..

Transmission built. Lots of room for 2spd goodness in the future!

Your C-hubs are on opposite. The panhard needs to be on the same side as the steering drag link.

Yeah, already changed it. Figured that out after I posted the photo.

Nice Ty, I'm looking forward to a set of MIP driveshafts to come out so that I can try a ROC412 in this thing and see how it all holds up!

I think the stock shafts might be alright if driven carefully and if the slipper is set right. I'll still put MIPs on for sure though!

Almost a roller. I'll need to decide on some wheels!

Our brand new Pro Hand Wound Motors were announced today, I went with the T30 after how awesome it was in the Honcho I built. Good wheelspeed and awesome torque! My new favorite brushed setup.

Yes, it is soldered up. Just need to get me a servo and receiver installed! Wheels and tires are from my Bronco, still need to decide what I want to put on this rig. Thinking of going with an FJ40 body or a Scout....decisions decisions...

Thank you sir! I'm looking at how to hide it even more not much room right there by the link mount!

I didn't really think it was wired up, had to really look.

Impressive

I should be able to hide the battery and servo wires decently, but it's going to be one LONG servo wire in this thing.

Yeah, even my Futaba servo just barely made it. Futaba servos are traditionally much longer than any other servo I've used.

Whats the big difference between the old 35t and new 30t? Is it worth changing if I already have the 35t?

I think the 30T gives that little bit extra that the 35T was always lacking for me. I run all 2S on my rigs though since we just crawl for fun. If I was going to comp it I'd run 3S on this motor for sure and I have, it packs some punch for sure!

Finally pulled the trigger on the body, wheels and tires for this rig. Going 1.55 steelies and Mud Thrashers under a Tamiya FJ40 body! Here's to hoping the wheels clear the knuckles...

I cant wait to see what these wheels look like under the truck . I want to do a weather white 5 spoke on a clodbuster body made to look like an old farm truck, eventually.
