Might be a stupid question but why do so many people install their shocks upside down?

Yea, in the 1:1 world and R/C they are mounted either way. I installed these as intended by RC4WD, shock boot and shock body text right-side up.

Thanks. I started to work on the interior this weekend and hit a road block. Specifically, a big honking motor and transmission. So, I ordered up a GCM forward motor mount and transfer case kit from TCS Crawlers. I am bouncing between this and two other builds right now but ill keep on keeping on.

Didnt like the trans setup for interior fabrication so I ordered up a GCM kit from TCS.

Had to weld some Carter Fab tabs to the rails for servo mounts.

Mock up driveshaft from trans to transfer case will be replaced by a homemade job'd shaft or a gmade skinny shaft.

Just barely works with body on. I am talking like 1.5mm from hitting

I like everything about this build! paint choice, wheels tires your custom work and that interior looks like its going in the right direction.

Thanks guys.

The trans to transfer case driveshaft is going to cut through the bottom of the dash but there is nothing I will be able to do about it, other than cut the dash and try to hide the shaft.

More seats. And rear area is closed off to be able to have the battery and esc back there. Had to do it. Servo winch mounting will be challenging as well.

Hey Shane what's your take on the GCM kit? Does it enhance performance? Love the TLTs my favorite scaler rocks TLTs. Keep up the great work you've been on a building spree good for you.

I had the same issue with my JK body. Was lucky enough to only have to notch the floor pan though. thinking of adding carpet to the floor and hiding it that way.

I got the GCM kit for the interior clearance benefits for this build. Having the motor moved up front was just a bonus.
The TLT's are going to be a test for me, as the steering looks to be limited. I could think about narrowed printed 3d scx axles and/or vaterra axles.

I used a similar GCM setup on this ol dusty jeep.

I will cut what I need to to clear and then figure out something to cover it. I do have an old inner tube I cut up for mud flaps that I use if styrene won't do it.

I'm dealing with this right now in my XJ build. Had to dremel the lower dash and quite a bit of the floorpan for clearance as well. I suppose you could always create a widened floorpan from styrene or some leftover lexan and plastidip.

Default Szczerba's Montero

Thanks Crawl Space

I didnt like the up travel and ride height out back. Grabbed some Carter Fab tabs and made new shock chassis mounts.

Close to perfect on up travel and ride height now.

Shaft clearance done on dash.

Looks good. I'm sure you'll have no problem fabbing a floor pan.

Is this going to be your C1 entry at nationals?

I see you're using the OME internally sprung shocks. I'm working with similar shocks. Did you have to use stiffer springs to maintain balanced articulation? I couldn't find stiff enough springs for the RC4WD scale shocks that would support the weight. Just ordered super lifts with the variable spring kit.

I may not have showed them but I bought two extra optional set of springs for the front and rear shocks. Fronts are 100mm and rear are 70mm. I have changed out the front springs but will still have to tune them all once it's RTR.

I will only need to make a rear floorpan for the battery and esc mounts. The floor pan/seats/interior act as the floor pan for 2/3 of the body. Ordering up a servo winch as well. Will lay flat on a mount on the drivers side slider mount. The winch line will not go through a bumper fairlead due to the servo and body mount. I have an idea on that though.

And yes, C1 for CO. It will be a weak performer but C1 is all about driving tiny tire'd trucks on tiny rocks so it's fun regardless.

Gotcha I think we're using the same spring kit then as those springs work on the same shock bodies. I'm running 100mm up front and 80mm in the rear. Just glad to see someone else using just internally sprung shocks. Thanks for the info. Great job as always.
