| fj c1 scratch build
this one is going to be kind of a mutt.. scx based chassis rails and axles and a lot of spare parts. to try to make it standout from the others in the lineup im converting to leaf springs and running a dig trans. i know i cant use it in a comp, but our sunday trail runs get kinda competitive and its run-whatcha-brung! im not really too psyched to run a lexan body, but its an effort to reduce c.o.g.and adding a hardbody to this isnt in the cards after you factor in the safari rack and camping gear going on the roof. ive got a few tricks up my sleeve for this one and will post pics as i build them

im making it out of styrene. i have not gotten started yet, im waiting to see how much room i have once the chassis is built, transmission, rx box, battery, etc.. i screwed that up on a tf2 once. finished the body and interior first, then had to do a bodylift, and still needed to cut half the floor out and redo it. i also need to figure out who is driving.. im thinking a whole family, wife, kids, dog... max out on passenger points!

No real progress.. Roughing in the leaf mounts and trying to decide between shackles in front or rear of the spring |

Got a little further.. Wheelbase set, pinion angles are right, and she twists up pretty well even as a stripped chassis with no weight |

You might find the red springs are actually to soft. Once you have the rig at the finished weight you can play with ride height and spring tensions. On the back springs the shackles should be on the rear of the springs. Looking good. Cheers H2Micr0 |

The suspension is done, painted, and mounted. I think it came out looking pretty good.. It twists up pretty well too! I'm going to limit it but 4+ inches of total travel is strong for a short wheelbase leafer |

Looking good. The frame is going to be too long at both ends, right? Are you going to cut off the frame rails in back and cut the grill in front? |

im cutting it off in the back and making a steel bumper similar to the stock one with the swing out tire carrier. the front is staying.. ill have about an inch in front of the grill to box off and mount the winch. im also making a stinger front bumper for it similar to the one i did on saw v2.0
