| Pardonmyn00b's Blizzard Patrol TF2 SWB RC4WD Challenge Giveaway Build
Courtesy of the good folks at RC4WD, and the brilliant minds of a n00b and a guy, I’m proud to announce a special giveaway for the entrants of ALL 3 RC4WD Scale Challenges. N00b and I will be building up two brand new RC4WD Short Wheelbase TF2’s with all the goodies, creating a custom lid for them, competing in Class 1, and then giving them away at the awards banquet at the East Coast Scale Challenge! If you compete in any of the three events this year, in any class (Except for TTC), you’re automatically entered to win one of these custom, one-off creations. No strings attached, a fully RTR rig, babied through the gates could be yours, just for being a part of this awesome community. It’s our way of giving back, and thanking each participant for the commitment to this hobby, RC4WD, and their love of toy trucks. So follow along, this truck could be yours! Rules: These toy trucks are custom build bodies with all the scale options you would ever need. They are built on the RC4WD TF2 SWB (Short Wheel Base) Chassis. THESE RIGS WILL BE RUN AT THE CANADA AND EAST COAST SCALE CHALLENGE EVENTS THIS YEAR!!! How do I win one of these awesome rigs?
You can only win once. Winner will be the name on the ticket registration only. Winners will be chosen by Random Integer Generator on video. Winners will be contacted. If you are at ECSC and win, you will take it home. Here we go. Unlike n00b, I have chosen a non-Toyota with which to start this build. The classy looking Nissan Patrol SWB 260. Super popular in Europe. Never heard of in North America. Sad really. The base for this truck will be the leaf sprung RC4WD TF2 SWB kit. Perfect wheelbase to match a 1/9th build and adds a ton of scale points for Class 1. Nice box. And right side up for once. Thumbs up to Shipping Department. Chassis all built up with a few bonus add-ons for nice truck making. ARB diff covers front and rear, XVD's for enhanced steering angle. Metal driveshafts included in kit! 35T Boost motor and waterproof high torque servo with Outcry ESC and BEC. Nice Bead Lock wheels and Dick Country Fun Cepeks in 1.55 form. All in all, a nicely put together kit. The short wheelbase makes for some inspired driving. Great break-over angle, but takes more skill to keep from tumbling down a hill. Integrated body mounts, made for the Wrangler body, will definitely aid this custom build. Starting with a printout to the proper scale of a photo I took while on vacation in Barcelona, I started thinking through the body construction. I opted for a technique that I haven't tried before. Skeleton boat maker technique for adequate response transposition. Rather than build the whole thing as one element, I started on everything rear of the front door seam. The front clip requires a bit more thinking so I can integrate some angles, so I thought I'd do it separately. Same with cab and ute cover top thingy. Here it is after some construction time. More to come. |

The 1:1 rig reminds me of the Dodge Raider/ Mitsubishi something-or-another from the late '80's. |

Thank you! Uh, no. A combination of .060 and .030. A bit more progress today. Front clip begun. Now I just need some good pictures of the rear. Every time I google "Rear End" I get everything but trucks.

Absolutely brilliant idea all the way around. Will be watching attentively (while realizing that my little styrene project of the moment is not so scary after all). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I'd imagine that your new construction technique should save some overall weight on the body. |

Thanks guy. All finished! Not really, actually. But I did manage to make it look more truck like. This building technique really makes things easy on keeping things square, light and most importantly, accurate. More to come.

The styrene fairy showed up, and in exchange for all my teeth, she made me a couple things. Lots of layers of styrene go into making these shapes, and keeping them that way. And as a by-product, it's actually gaining some much needed weight. Now to focus my attention on making the rear top part thingy... Don't forget, if you've signed up for nearly any of the events at any RC4WD Scale Challenge event this summer, you might have already won this truck. |

Excellent build so far. My dad had a Nissan Patrol when we lived in Saudi Arabia back in the 80's. Always wished he had shipped it back when we came back.
