| Transmission tunnel
Today I hammered out the transmission tunnel. It will need a little trimming before I braze it on. I'll get all the cab parts ready to go then braze them together at the same time while the parts are hot! |

I suppose I have successfully gotten far enough this is beginning to look like a realization I'll post my inspiration! So first here is the yellow one. I know this is an FJ40 not a FJ45, but this is why I'm doing yellow/silver. It looks good. This next red one is what I will be going for overall. Small differences, but this is the idea. And this last one is just for tube. I will use a combination of tube ideas from all 3, with some of my own. This is what gave me the idea for zoomies. |

| cab parts
Made the cab sides and sanded everything so far. Next I'll wire these together nice and tightly and then make some more cab parts! |

Looks clean! What are you going to do with the bed? Flat? Truggy? Tub?

planning a tub similar to the one in a picture above with the spare tire. I don't think I'm gonna do the spare though.

| body wired up
Didn't get a whole bunch done. Doing lots of yard work! I did get all the edges cleaned up and trimmed to match real well. I also got the parts I have so far safety wired together for brazing. I'll make the rest and get them wired up before the torch hits it though! Gonna be busy so I won't be able to get back to this for about 2-3 weeks. |

| Cab brazed
Well I'm back from vacation and spent a few days cutting my lawn and weeding my garden.... It was tall! Now I'm back to building! Today I finished making parts for the cab! Then I still had time so I brazed it all together and removed the stitches. Brazing aluminum is a pain it the butt and doesn't look great afterward. I'm getting better slowly, but I don't do it enough. Then to smooth out my not so great brazing and help the aluminum heal from the stitches I applied some JB Weld as filler. Next time I get a chance I'll get this sanded down and ready for paint. |

| Yellow!
Got it sanded and sprayed the yellow. Looking pretty plain without interior... It's gonna have to wait though. I want to get everything built before I start making detail parts. It was very humid. It was raining as I sanded everything smooth and I am impatient and wanted to paint ASAP. The first coat of yellow seemed to blush really bad and had a flat appearance. So I figured out a trick... I heated up the part for a bit with a heat gun and then immediately went outside and painted it and came back in and hit it with a heat gun again. Seemed to keep the moisture from getting trapped in the paint and it had a nice glossy yellow finish as it should! |

So cleanly done! Very nice metal work! The fun part is coming right? The hood and the cab? The cowl piece looks really nice, I struggled with that piece when I built my FJ45, your whole build is much cleaner than mine, looking forward to uodates on this.
