Default Another Hilux, but it's metal...

So I happened to be cruising the classifieds and saw my good buddy bob was selling his MetalMasher toyota. I have previously passed on this rig when it was up for sale last time due to troubles with my Subaru... Not that much has changed but I decided I couldn't let it slip by again. Ever since attending the RC4WD ECSC 2 years ago and meeting Blake in person and getting to see his creation up close I have wanted one for the collection. His talents in building the aluminum bodies is absolutely insane and the fabrication and metal work on the chassis is quite possibly second to none. The joints are seamless and the bends look like something made production from a machine shop. I already have set of Yota I axles in route thanks to RCC classifieds, it's getting some 1.5 steelies and modded swappers that came with it for now and I wanna do a bed floor and wells, probably a n00b kit if I can make it work. Also has a dinky interior that needs some fishing.

Here are some pics, axles should be here monday

Yah Matt, I make all my own chassis for my rigs. this one was a clone of my class 2 truck since I wouldn't sell my original.

I'm glad you got the truck Mike. I know it's in good hands. just promise that you'll drive it even if it's gently. it's been killing me seeing it not getting used. I built it to be driven and driven hard. that's why I put so much time into the chassis.

I'm very anxious to see what you do with it.

Don't worry, I plan to wheel it some "dents" will be inevitable... That's kinda the point though right ?

So the axles came in, I got the them mocked up, had to adjust the links to get the wheel base squared away. The shocks that came on it were wayyyyyyy to long. I am going to be placing an order with RC4WD for some goodies, on that list is some 80mm kings to replace the old man emu shocks currently installed. I am however happy with the current ride height. I also went ahead and started working on details. Did MTHead side emblems, detailed a set of new tail lights, and since is has an OG Bruiser grill I hit the Toyota lettering and emblem with a silver sharpie marker.

Mad flex yo

You'll also notice the gold center ENKs... We're suppose to be for land cruiser 70 but they got stolen... Gold center all the wheels!

Question... Doesn't anyone have a good suggestion for a "rubber windshield molding" ?? Scale off road had this really awesome rubber trim for the XJ bodies but I have no idea what it actually was...installed though it 100% looked the part. I really need to do some sort of windshield trim...

I like to gold center all the things...

I'd like the yellow shocks if it were leaf sprung but with the 4 link I feel like it needs coil overs.

Reminds me I need to PM Blake back...

Are these the wheels in 1.55 ? If so where did you get 1.55 tsl tires ? Are they a reduced set ?

Windscreen Rubber eh? I have used the sheathing off electrical cable before.

If you have a good hunt about some of the older stuff is slightly rubberised.
Strip out the electric cable and carefully slice down one side.
You can then slide it round a piece of vlear plastic.

Going off now to find a picture to explain.
