Default 1995 Isuzu Rodeo

Something Ive been wanting to do for a long time, but my crappy skills with styrene have prevented me from doing, is making a model of my 1:1 95 Rodeo.

It seems everybody does a Toyota, its nice to see something different

My girlfriend had this 3D printed for my birthday. Its still in its rough, fresh printed state because she also arranged for the printer-guy's buddy to paint it, but I have it to get a start on the chassis and axles.

Ill pick up the steel tomorrow after work and go in on wendsday, my day off, to heat up the box section and bend it with the Oxy-Acetelyne torch (Unless a propane torch can do it)

I was toying with the idea of using a CC-01 chassis for front IFS, yeno scale realism and all that, but Id rather have a scale looking chassis so it will be an SAS'd Rodeo. The problem I have to overcome is my girlfriend measured the truck and took the 1:10 scale literally, so the body is 6" wide at the wheel wells. Im going to steal the axles from my SCX10 Monster Patrol build (pushed back again) cause Im impatient and cheap, and narrow them right down. I dont even know if its possible to get an axial axle down to 5.75" from nearly 7". Once I get the width down Im gonna order the D44 axle housing from RC4WD.

For wheels Im gonna rob the 1.55 black steelies with the scale mickey thompsons from my CC-01 cause they are the perfect size for the body.

And heres the picture of the 1:1 inspiration

Cheers for now!

That is really nice.. An amazing G/F you have to do that for you.. The propane torch, I don't think it will get hot an nuff to bend the steel..

Thats what I thought. Do you think MAPP gas would do it?

I use mapp gas for my brazing. It's a lot hotter and should heat the metal up, to be able to bend.. It's worth a shot.. Just wait till the section is glowing red and then bend..

Great looking body! A propane torch will get the tubing hot enough to bend I have done it many times before. Cant wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks!

Crappy tire was out of the steel stock but Ill go back friday.

Ill admit ive been out of the loop for awhile, I havent heard of Vaterra before yesterday, but the slickrock is 1/18th scale and has the right axle width, I found a couple on RC recycler, should arrive within a week I hope

The slick rock is basically a Losi MRC.

That's sweet......being 3D printed helps bring out the smaller details.

I made a Rodeo body out of Styrene for the same reason....wanted to match my 1:1

Custom Isuzu RC body

I need to dust it off and do some more work to it.....give the windshield more of the natural curve and such....but it was my first undertaking with styrene.

Thats sweet dude! I looked through your thread and saw pics of your 1:1... It looks familiar, are you on Planet Isuzoo?

Well it took 2 weeks but my axles arrived. Please ignore the reduced 1.9s I threw on for mock up, that body makes them look huge!

I also have my frame rails cut, but thats boring. Once I figure out which trans I will be using I can make a skidplate and bolt the 2 halfs of the frame together. I didnt know that Horizon hobby makes the Temper or something, another 1/18 scale crawler, I found one at a hobby store a couple towns over last week. They had the kit for sale for about $30 more than the axles I bought cost shipped to me, I wish I had found that kit first I would have just bought it for all the parts!

Sorry its been so long without an update, works been busy and starting the 4th of January Im going back to school for 6 weeks, so Ive really been saving all the money I can

However I have more than enough to cover me for 6 weeks so, after several failed attempts at making a chassis, Ive ordered a sawback chassis set. Ill mock it up with the skidplates that come with it, see what the width is like, and adjust accordingly. Hopefully I can still use a leaf spring setup as well

As for the body I will be paintig and sanding it now. However the material is alot harder than I thought. I tried sandpaper then switched to files and its still slow going. Gonna pick up some dremel sanding drums tomorrow
