Havnt been on this site in probably 3-4 years and when I came back i started looking at the scx10/1.9/1.5 rig forums and dove about 50 pages back and looked for awesome build threads and it got me used to seeing start to finish. I only just realized that this is a VERY current build! I cannot wait to see how this thing turns out! League of your own!!!

Thanks for the kind words! It's been a crazy busy summer but i need to get this thing moving again. Got a few hours in the shop and made a bit of headway. I started with making a forming blank for the half-cab roof out of some scrap particle board. This allowed me to test some thick paper templates and get the rough template for the next paint can donor. Here is the roof edge frame and drip edge that the roof will attach to. Once the metal is formed into place on the blank, I tacked it in place along the edge to hold the shape while i silver soldered the seams. I'll hammer them as smooth as I can and then use some filler to hide them before paint. I then scribed a line around the roof for my gutter bend and cut line. Here is the completed (still needs some hammer work) half-cab on the body. Yay! |

| Re: Scale EB Build Yes it will get used just like my full sized one. I've never been a trailer queen sort of guy. You must not have a wife if you don't have painting on your honey-do list |

Boy I need to get on the ball with this build. Crazy summer of rebuilding my full size cars. Wheel well arches and filler neck on the subaru and both rocker panels on the Explorer. Rust, Rust and more Rust... Welcome to New England! | |

Sorry it's been so long but i'm back on it again... So here is the update The body began to develop an epic quantity of rust from the silver solder flux. It actually got some pinhole rust right through the body panels (just like a real 1:1 New England rust belt bronco). As cool as it looked, I didn't want to find a small pile of rust where my baby bronco used to sit, so I washed it in the dishwasher and then tossed it in the blast cabinet, then gave it a coat of etch primer. Next on the list was to form the rear quarters. I cut a template out of aluminum to press in the wheel arch detail. Pressed the panel in the bench vice and then drew out the lines a bit more with a rounded off punch. I also got the lower rocker panel skins roughed out for a test fit. Here are the dry fit shots. I'm going to wait until I have the rear corners done and then solder it all at once (hopefully). |

I envy your skill and patience! Looking forward to see how your radius arms and mounting comes out. I'm running EB parts under the front of a Ranger, seeing someone faithfully reproduce what the factory built (resto-scale?) is amazing.

| Re: Scale EB Build I most likely will need to custom fab both axles as there is nothing out there that is even close to being narrow enough to be scale. I was looking at the K44 front and the Yota rear (looks pretty close to a 9") but both are almost a scale foot too wide. Plus i think they may be geared different but I can't find any reliable info on that. I've got plenty to work on before I get there |
