Default 1.55 SCX/Wraith = Scraith

I had some stuff laying around and thought I would give this a shot. Here we go.

I had a Wraith and decided to build a custom chassis for it so I ended up with this just chillin by itself.

Then I also had this ancient thing that is rolling on some of the original AX-10 axles. I slapped on some 1.55s that I picked up from a friend today.

Add in some of this

And my desire to have a crawler that was actually going to be challenging to drive while still being capable with a little time and I now have this mocked up.

As of right now it still needs a lot but after Christmas I should get it rolling pretty quick. I'm planning on a CMS and 3 link in the front and 4 link in the rear. Probably a sidewinder and an undecided motor on 3S.

I can only stomach one of those root beers. They're like drinking sugar syrup.

I sold some stuff in my Ebay store so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on some parts for this.

Hopefully I get everything by the weekend so I can get the temporary links all set up and start making the solid links.

I got some parts in the mail and installed today.

Vanquish panhard mount.

Hot Racing upper 4 link mount. B*tch to put on. Now that it's on I do like the design though.

The rear links seem to work and don't bind at all. Just waiting on my Wraith CMS/upper panhard mount to get here and the suspension should be done. Then I should be able to install the trans from my Wraith, the MMP and Holmes Trailmaster, and some driveshafts. By then it should be time for a test run before I make the long term links. After that I'll be hitting the trail to blow apart a locker or the stock diff gears that already have a lot of hours on them.

I got the panhard/CMS mount in and got the panhard almost right on the first try. I kinda hate it for this already. I have to use a 1/2" spacer on the back side to space the top mount back. I may try to grind and sand the down bar mounts so that I can slide the plate back even farther to get it lined up.

My little helper.

Front shot.

It starting to actually look somewhat complete.

Just waiting on a few auctions to end on eBay to get a transmission and waiting on parts and my ESC/motor from the forum classifieds.

I spent some time on this tonight and reconfigured the panhard/CMS mount and panhard link. Everything seems to move freely and doesn't bind or collide.

I also moved the front shocks back on the upper mount. Now that they are in the middle hole the panhard screw clears the shock body on compression. Speaking of compression, I lucked out all around on tire size and travel. I don't have the trim the body at all and have juuuuuust enough clearance.

Front compression

Rear full compression.

Top view.

Did some cleaning up on this thing today. I literally threw the body on the day before we left for Florida last summer and it was really rough around the edges. I spent some time smoothing out all the fenders, rockers, hood and rounding off the edges. I also did the fastback mod and got that mostly smoothed out.

Got parts yesterday!

I had a problem with one of the spools not sitting in the gear correctly. I have to send it back to RPP and get another one.

I also made a grille area and a filler panel between the window and the hood since it doesn't quite butt up and had an annoying gap.

I painted the rings and think it looks much better.

Transmission and motor in with wires zip tied up and around everything.

MMP mounted

Grille painted but I'm not real happy with it.

Panel to fill the gap between the hood and dash bar.

Now just waiting to find some link material, rod ends and pins for the MIPs.

What an absolute bad ass rig! Definatly a favorite of mine and I'm a Ford/dodge (well Cummins) guy!

I think the unpainted rings match the build better but with a little rash on the red rigs it's gonna look like an OG TTC rig with those groundhawgs

I appreciate it! I'm pretty stoked to get it going. Just a few more things and it should be ready for its maiden voyage.

I got all the rear links made and installed tonight. I also got the driveshaft put in the rear.

Then on to the front lowers and the tie rod.

Took it on a maiden voyage today. I'm at 10/54 32p gearing and it's too low for this. I'll probably go up to a 14T and use the 10t on my 2.2 Wraith and it should be fine. Anyway.. Bombed around the yard real quick and learned that the servo arm is stripped. Other than being a little too slow it works pretty well from what I can see just around the house. Once I get the servo arm fixed tonight I'll take it to the park and see how it does. Just a few pics.

I also played around in the yard of the house next door since it's empty. Hahaha.

Here is a quick video of the most extreme thing I had around. Not crazy by any means but it shows that it's pretty stable and should work well with a little tweaking.
