Default inner fenders started

I had a little time today, so I finally did a little more on this. I mounted some tow shackles to my rear bumper and made the rear inner fenders.

The tow shackles were pretty simple. I used Yeah Racing tow shackles but the base was a bit too big to fit on my widest flat part of the bumper. To fix this, I used a dremil and ground down some spots for them to fit recessed a bit. This keeps them from sticking out so far, and widens the base for the shackle mounts to fit nicely. Then I drilled out the mounts and tapped bumper to fit a 3mm scale bolt and bolted them on.

Then I made some rear inner fenders. I figured they'd be the hardest so I wanted to do them first. The rear passenger side is glued in permanently. The drivers side is removable. The reason is because the battery is stored behind it. To get the battery in and out, or even unplug it, the inner fender needs to be removed. I drilled a hole in the interior and glued and SCX10 body post into it. Then I drilled a hole in the inner fender for the post. One body clip holds it on! Once the glue dries I may need to add some plastic the removable one to fill the gap between the body better.

I'll still need to make the front inner fenders, but I will probably screw them on to the chassis so they will likely be much easier to make.

You've got yourself a really good looking rig man! Nicely done re-purposing that body.

Default Inner fenders done!

Today I made some styrene inner fenders. They are mounted with the shock screw, and forward body mount screw. I used .020" styrene so they are nice and light. Now this Jeep is done and ready to drive over stuff!

Default Video

I took it out for a short run in my yard and here's a little video. I'll have something better when I get a chance, but you can see it works!
