4 door Hilux with GCM 22r I don't know if many know I own this truck, but I picked it up some time back. The builder gave me a really great deal on it as he felt I could properly finish it. I must say, he did a nice job on the truck over all, especially on the interior with turning be bench seats into bucket seats. Anyways, it also had an opening hood, I was considered at the time trying to scratch build a 22r but it would have been a lot of work and truth is I am really to busy for that. Then I got wind that GCM was working on a 3D printed 22r, they also developed their own motor plate for the RC4WD R4 transmission. Well, soon as they hit shape ways, I bought 3 complete engines and then hit their website for the 3 motor plates. This tuck was a perfect candidate to try my first scale engine bay seeing as the hood is already nicely hinged and that the truck is based on a tf2 so all I needed was the new r4 trans install kit to get things going. Here's where I am at http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psfapf0uk0.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...pshglnyqvi.jpg The GCM plate fit flawlessly, not that I would expect anything less from those guys With this interior being mounted flat to the chassis some trimming was going be required, which is fine because now I can scratch up a transmission tunnel. I also hacked a center console off a failed dinky RC floor too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...pslifj2umf.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psvgdn1v9a.jpg After the interior trimming was done, I loosely assembled the engine and tossed the body back on... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ps2qmcyxlp.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psdyovjzge.jpg Yup that's awesome http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psiroibcbs.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psmmmfukqp.jpg Now I have to make a fire wall with appropriate scale items, n00b inner fender wells and rad support, some additional transmission mounts, figure out a location for steering servo and much much more. More to follow Thanks for looking Mike |

More to come soon, I gotta fab up a trans tunnel for the interior, hell I might go HAM on the interior... Not really feeling the tan... Do up one of my famous dashes with working lights and stuff. Gotta paint the engine and stuff still... Lots to do... Was working on my friends 4Runner today and my XJ again. |
Re: 4 door Hilux with GCM 22r Yep...I like it. Really cool idea turning the bench into buckets. It's in the right hands to complete it. Should be very cool when done. |
Re: 4 door Hilux with GCM 22r I like the captain's chairs and the bench rear seats. Very cool. When I first saw this truck at your house I thought, wow what a keeper. Such a cool unknown rig. Looking forward to seeing a hamster under the hood. |
Re: 4 door Hilux with GCM 22r I'm digging this truck and its ability to haul around some women of questionable occupational choices. How's that for pg13? |
