Nice build as usual Derrick. I'll keep my eye on this for sure. Thanks for sharing.

It's definitely a unique rig. I'm curious to see where it goes.

So tonight I worked on the floor pans a bit I brazed on some tabs and luck has it there were 2 drilled and taped holes in the frame I was able to utilize

I was also able to figure out a approx. Length on the first linkage in my steering.

Hopefully tomorrow I can make the dash and get the servo installed in it to make the steering wheel turn.

Then once I get the transmission I'll cut out the tunnel for it and make the hump in the interior... I feel like I've assembled and disassembled this thing 1000 times already. Just 1000 more to go.

Finally!

Now I can make some progress!

I bolted the R4 transmission and GCM transfer case to the block! Let's get this party started. I need to make a bracket to support the transmission in the frame.

3/16" rod should do... I know what your thinking (But baconbits.... how are you gonna drill out a rod for a m3 screw?) Let me show you.

You just have to flatten it out. This is something I've been practicing. I heat up the rod to almost the point of melting. Then smash it flat with a big hammer.

Now to cut out the firewall and floor pan so this awesome transmission setup fits.

Finally for tonight. I have a basic idea of where I want my lower links to mount. So let's get that in here also.

I got some grundish tabs the lower links will mount between and the upper links once the rear axle is ready will get brazed into place.

Not much room left for the servo... I have a feeling things will be somewhat cramped. Oh well. Now to prepare for the comp sunday.

So it's time to get that pesky steering servo mount made and knock that off the punch list.

Ill start with 3/16" steel rod heat it up red hot. Smash it flat with a hammer and anvil and drill it out.

It's hard to tell in the pictures but this is the beginning of a servo bracket.

Now once I drill the holes and braze it in presto! (Sounds easier than it really is)

Several attempts later and ta da!

That's 1.

That's 2

Now to get it back together for the comp tomorrow so I can show it off.

PA here I come!

This is one of those builds that reminds me why I got into this hobby. Great work, I've been thinking about doing a rig like this. Just have to finish the three builds I got going on right now. Subbed, thanks for sharing.

Made just a little more progress. Slow and steady...

I needed to find a way to have the front lower and upper links attach but still be able to drop the motor and transmission out in 1 piece.

Sooo...

Luck has it there are to bolt locations on this bruiser chassis that will work out great.

I also tore apart the r4 transmission and GCM transfer case and greased them with cowrc udder butter.

The gears in this GCM transfer case are serious. I wouldn't hesitate to say they won't break.

It's axle time! With any luck I'll have some very unique axles together this week. I got some special made beef tubes to work with the front end. And some special lockouts from rcaddict for the rear axle.

Finally some axle goodies...

Let's get this ball rolling.

The rear axle is a scx10 (version 1 or "orginal") a Holmes hobbies spool, vanquish rear axle shafts, helical cut under drive gears, fast Eddie bearings, cow rc udder butter, and spare time hobbies narrow lockouts.

It came out as planned to 8" from outside tire to outside tire.

The front axle is a scx10 version 1 housing, incision spool, helical cut over drive diff, scx10 ii (or version 2) AR44 universals (cut down) custom made beef tubes (from the orginal company beef tubes) to accommodate scx10 ii c hubs and knuckles. STRC c hubs and knuckles. Fast Eddie bearings, cow rc udder butter,

Saying it has plenty of steering is a understatement.

Again it comes to 8" from outside tire to outside tire

The wheelbase will be 9 1/2" and look something like this

Now to make links, and get the shock locations made.

Welp, it's thanksgiving eve. . . Lol so I find myself with a bit of free time.

It's links night.

I got the front done aswell... shoulda taken a picture. (I'll follow up with 1 tomorrow.)

Now all I have left before powder and paint is sorting out the panhard mount on the chassis, and the shock mount locations on the chassis.

The front end is quickly becoming a battle for space...

I should have all the shock mounting locations finished up along with the panhard mount. So... next is prep for powder coating.

I managed to get the frame completely done and powder coated the other night.

Then it was just a matter of assembly

Then just add paint to the body and BLAM!

I got my front bumper sorted out. It's definitely more than wide enough to fit the extended class.
