I'm with you mr n00b, having the diff on the wrong side drives me nuts too. I'll be interested to see how it works out for ya.

Should be fine. The only other axles that would work would be Yotas and I find that a bit far fetched for someone to run Land Cruiser axles on a Suburban.

Ok, so I was able to get the body mounted with some bits from the GCM shapeways store. It was almost too easy.

Chuffed. These 1.55 Mud Thrashers don't look too bad but I still might try some spare 1.9 MST tires. They're just a touch smaller.

You're not the only one who's chuffed.

D'oh. Of course the GCM axles. Hindsight should've gone with those.

I've just started my own 1/9 scale '85 suburban scratch build, so its a bit of a mind f*ck to come here and see this pop up. It literally is exactly the same scale/wheelbase as the one I planned (14.6" WB, 24.3" body).

Looking forward to seeing this build completed! Looks great so far.

I saw the start of your build. Ambitious project for sure. Best of luck!

My beloved SBG. Decals you say? Must've missed the message. My apologies. I don't make them if that's the question.

Bodywork is just about done. Going to shoot it with some primer and see how flawed it is.

Did you end up having to cut/stretch the chassis?

Got any pics? Did you braze/solder metal in or just screw it in place?

Now that I measured it was a 2 inch stretch. Used a piece of scrap aluminum channel I had laying around.

Sand, fill, prime, repeat. Getting there! I had the Suburban pose for some pictures with the K10

Not to distract from the 'Burban thread, but that perfect weathering job on the K10 just always make me stare. The truck would look perfect parked next to CUA's trailer hut.

he couldn't make it home

I've been working on this but have little to show. I wanted to make the molding separate from the body to make painting and attaching it easier. Each trim piece got a few studs and the body was drilled out. Pretty tedious work but I think it's worth it.
