I was able to take it out in the back yard yesterday and play around a little. It handled as I suspected. No roll overs, which is always great. And everything worked as it should. Next on the to finish list is the Raptor in the 1.9 section.

Yes, it will flex some. I found a really neat thread by Chino63 on how to get more flex from your springs. He tapered the loop on the shackle side so that the leaf springs would flex more. I tried that on this too. I works nicely.

As for my next build, after I finish the Raptor, I am going to do another leaf spring truck. I'm gathering parts now. Look for it in the 2.2 section. I think I will hopefully start on it in March.

I learned something about my axles today when I was able to drive this truck a bit. It already had over and under gears. i fell like I won a prize in the 'claw' machine.

Sweet. You need to look at m energy's xr10 axle mod. He converted his losi axles to use xr10 hubs, knuckles, and axles for the front.

Will do. I suppose it's a good way to throw more money into a truck. Ha, ha

I just wish I could take credit for building this body. I plan to do just that on my next build.

The name is apparently appropriate. I'm married and she likes to remind me frequently of how I don't do things the same as her. I was not aware that my way was not the right way.

Love the build man. I especially like that inventiveness with the winch, very cool!

I wouldn't mind having a 6x6 flat bed version of this.

I ran this in our first comp of the season. I learned a lot about it quickly. I need some wheel weights or low end weight. Two, I need different driveshafts. The comp had two courses. On the first course, my front shaft slipped out twice. The first cost me a repair. The second cost me a timeout. I was a foot from the final gate on an uphill slick rock and trying to winch up it, but the front axle was locked in place, remember those Losi Comp Crawler axles, and it wouldn't pull over a small bump in the rock. It did fine on the second course.

Steel shafts should help give it a little more low end weight. Next I'll check the wheels and axles for options.

Suggestions?

Here are a couple photos from the comp last weekend. I think I'm going to try and make some metal sliders as well.

I went forth on making myself some custom CI foams for this thing. It was set up on some stock foams, which would fold completely in the right situation.

I took some 4.25 dense foams for 1.9 rims and cut them diagonally, grooved them for the wheel weights from the inside of the foams, and then taped them on for a snug fit. Outer foams were also cut to the correct diameter and glued before placing inside of the wheel.

I used the red short course foams in the rear to have a more firm rear tire. I had to trim a little from each side for these to fit the tires. I did have to put the inner CI foam in to fill the space.

I'll be testing them later today.

The new foams worked great. The rear needed to be reset. The bead slipped out. I also found a way to get a spare and anchor my anchor.
