Still deciding whether I'm going to try weathering or not.

Mocked up my idea for the internals of the transmission. A shortened driveshaft and a carrier bearing. Will it work? Cross your fingers.

You got to. Atleast around where seals out be. Would look pretty sweet.

Started on the transmission housing. Tried to figure out how to make the bell housing. All my scratch building attempts were a fail. Then I came across the perfect bell housing rummaging through my storage draw. One of my son's old baby bottle tops.

Transmission is complete. Just need a little detail. The black part is actually a usb charger plug.

More progress. Got some detail done on the trans and started contouring the part I was dreading. Shaping the bottom plate to contour with the trans. Can't believe it turned out the way I imagined it in my head It's going to be a manual transmission so there's going to be a shifter coming through the floor. When I mocked it in the truck it seems be in that right spot.

Hate to be bearer of bad news, but you need some form of reduction before going into the transfer case. The transfer has a slight reduction, like 1.74:1 if I remember correctly and the axles are 2.66:1.
Do you have a planetary unit on the end of your motor?

I have a Xtra Speed 3:1 planetary gearbox installed on the motor.

Thanks for confirming this. After I posted that, I went back through your thread and saw the picture of the planetary unit.
3:1 might not be enough with a 27T motor, but the only way to know is to run it and go from there.

What turn motor do you think would be best for this build? Really don't understand the difference between the T's

The T rating is the number of turns or winds of copper wire is around core of a motor. The more winds, or higher the T number, the higher the torque output. High turn motors can't turn as fast as low turn motors.
If I had to guess at a motor for your truck, considering the weight, I would go with something in the 35-45T range.

Looks good man. Nice progress!
I use 35T and 45T. 35T gives a bit more speed, but i kinda like how the 45T feels on my Blazer. I use a 3s lipo on mine.
Fast enough to roll over, but not fast enough for a wheelie lol. Should make that my tag line.

Thanks webb. I'm just gonna have to purchase different turns in a couple different brands to see which feels best in my rig. Testing. Such fun.
