A little more progress on the 1:10 scale version of of the Jeep Quicksand. Got the chassis buttoned up, servo mounted and transfer case, panhard bars mounted, front and rear and painted the chassis. Tackled the headers, took about 3 hours! Wired up the 16 plug heads and mounted a few pulleys on the engine cover. Time to wrap up the body work and move on to the interior. |

Fresh out of the paint booth. The scale version of the Jeep Quicksand. Sorted out the dash details, added some color to the interior, fab'd the roll bar, added a firewall and stumbled on some cool racing mirrors that look pretty close to the real deal! Now for wet sanding polishing and a crap ton more details! Diving into this Concept scale build I found that there were several body mods that just seemed to never stop before it was “Paint ready”. So here is the list of body modifications. • Scale 4” chop • Remove the “B” pillars • Fill in the wiper recesses on the cowl • Modify the grill openings to match the 2018 Wrangler style • Open the wheel wells, bevel the body edges • Open the rear tailgate panel • Relocate the taillight openings • Open the roof • Open the hood, add the raised edge • Fill the door handles and mirror mounts • Fill in the front turn signals • Reduce the rear window opening • Add the dual gas filler doors • Think that’s it! |

I hired some garage help, but as soon as I finished wet sanding and buffing this thing out - he just stands there, staring at himself! No wonder he got killed off the show! Anyway, fab'd up the Moon tank, got the seats and upholstery sorted out, added the shift lever with tiny Hot Wheel Jeep in it like the 1:1....now for some more details! |

Thanks for all the awesome comments guys! Well my infatuation with building a scale version of Jeeps concept vehicle "Quicksand" is almost complete. After adding the remaining interior details, figuring out the driveshaft issues (I know the - driveshaft layout is a bit unconventional) finishing a few exterior details, installing that tilt out windshield, adding the wiring --- ITS ALIVE! Anyway, will get some film on it maybe tomorrow weather permitting. Still have a bit to finish up, It ain't exactly like the 1:1 but it will do! I have got to see if I can get a photo with the real one! Can you tell which is the RC and which is the 1:1 interior in the first upper / lower photo? #axialracing #RC4WD #rccaraction #moab2017 #jeepquicksand #FCAJeep #losb |
