Default The Scaler from Down Under!

So I'm starting a new 1.5 build and thought I would share the build as I go along. This project will be using a Crocodile Hunter hard body that will be mated to an SCX10 chassis. I've seen a few builds using these body's. Most of them have been tall rigs placing the body well above the chassis. That's always been a look I hate, that body lifted look. I'm thinking to fully pull this off I'm going to need a front motor mount setup and possibly a flat transfercase of some type.

Items I currently have:
o body set
o frame rails
o driveline (SCX10 components)
o RC4WD wheels and tires

The first picture is with the truck complete and the RC4WD wheels next to it. And the last is all the pieces I'm going to use.

Why not "Crocodile Dundee"?

Scale goodies have arrived! Also have a set of axles that just came in as well. Hoping to have links built tonight! Then it's on to figuring out body mounting.

Some progress today!

o cut small posts off underside of bed
o picked out chassis
o working on moving the skid plate/transmission forward so I can fit a motor inside the cab

Unfortunately for now I won't be able to run the full interior. My goal is to eventually have a Toyzuki V1 motor mount/transfer case.

Unsure if I'm going to drill the front of the hood and go body posts or figure out a velcro setup. Definitely using Velcro for the rear.

I like to cut the top of the body post flat. Drill holes at the end and run and aluminum plate between them. Stick some Velcro on the plate. It allows you to still adjust with the post but no holes.

Go to ebay they have magnetic posts for like 8.00 I have never seen one of these done and would hate to see the body drilled. Cant wait to see where this goes though.

Also if you check out my chevy build I did front motor set up sing scx10 chassis and skid.

Magnets suck for crawler bodies. One tip over and you have to put them back on or at least realign them even with magnets that are captured in a cup.

Assembled the SCX axles, put my lil 1.5s on and their to wide. Instead of messing with narrowing the SCX axles I'm gonna go with MRC axles.

I've seen about two builds with these bodies and both had 1.9s stick way out and looked like monster trucks. I want this to look almost stock.

Also picked up a Dinky RC cantilever kit for the rear. I don't have it in my heart to chop up the bed for an ugly shock tower.

Small update. Have my Dinky RC cantilever mounted up. Now contemplating whether I should spend $90 for narrow SCX10 axle housings or attempt to narrow a set myself. The stock SCX10 axles are about 1/4" to wide on each side.

Narrowed Ascender axles would fit nicely, great build start!
