Default Crawl Space TJ aka Twerp Jerp

Starting my attempt at a short wheel base rig ready for competition.

Most of this build started with leftover parts so it will be cobble together, like most of my personal trucks

Had a leftover boom racing short wheelbase chassis rails that i chopped about an inch or so out of the middle. Welded and mounted to a Vader flat skid.

Then I started work on the front shock hoops and mounting plates for the transmission, yes they look like shit, I was having issues with my the gauges for the argon tank and finally figured it out after getting everything tacked together.

The plan was to keep the drive train as simple as possible and try a few ideas I've had rumbling around my head recently.

I cut the top portion off a AX10 trans mission and used it as a carrier for the spur gear shaft and have some thing to also bolt the motor plate to.

I turned down and tapped a piece of aluminum tube to mount the drive shaft yoke to directly off the spur gear shaft to go to the Hammer T-case.
I plan to run an over drive from the t-case to the front axle to get a little better ascent power and turning radius.

Had to tweak out the trans mounting plates for a better drive line angle, now that I have my welder dialed in with the gas I'll re-tack the motor plate brackets.

Working on getting some AR44 axles together and try a 45-55t motor to get the low creep out of this simple start of a drive train.

Welp, the simple trans mod worked well for low end creep but no guts for crawling up and over obstacles over center tire height.

I'm going to cop out and go with a standard AX trans mounted to a cross plated welded to the chassis. Added a simple styrene tray to mount running gear and keep everything low.

Chopped the output on the front facing side the get the trans as far forward as possible.

Dealing with more gauge issues for some reason but got through tacking up a quick roll cage. The B pillar came later, it was a long night.

Fortunately I have enough of this cheap spray on bedliner to cover up the crap welds. A tig machine is in my near future.

Quick mock up of the body so far.

I look forward to stealing some ideas from this build since I'm currently helping my cousin build nearly the same truck.

Quick tack on the rear shock mounts, more like shock nubs and ran the short ECX shocks someone recommended for drop bed builds. I used some RCBros comp springs cut to size and refilled the shocks with some 45wt oil to slow everything down in the rear.

Pushing forward slightly since I'm terrible at taking pics while I'm building this truck on top of customer trucks.

Holmes Hobbies servo installed, and running gear laid out low to clear the body and interior. Little 3s lipo needs to stand up to clear the interior firewall but shouldn't effect weight distribution too much.

Make sure you get Rubicon Stickers for the Hood. Not cool unless it has Rubicon stickers. Then you can crawl any speed bump at your local mall like a boss.

Otherwise excellent work and carry on.

Alrighty, so my old desktop dumped and I lost a bunch of build pics.

I did snap some finished pics.
Did some quick fender wells with craft foam , scored a sweet river and weathered the whole truck to go with the driver vibe.

Nice!!!
Whats the wheelbase? My son wants a tj for his barrage and this looks awesome.

Great job in the figure! Im a huge marvel legends collector and it never occurred to me that old man logan is a PERFECT driver figure! Although he is actually 1:12 scale but that jerp blurrs between 1:10 and 1:12 anyway.

Great work! And your worst welds are better than my best any day haha
