I think (as Brake Weight and others have pointed out) a Redcat E16 (possibly some other 1/18 scales?) would be the ideal donor.
I've got a HSP Kulak (same as all of the MRC clones) on my bench and they are way too wide!!

First test with 2s 1000mah battery, standard esc, receiver and mini servo.
How long will it last? I'm pretty worried about steering knuckles and "cvd"...

Mine showed up this morning. They definitely missed on the 1/16 scale, it's tiny compared to a 1/16 Abrams. It's more like 1/18 in width and 1/20 in height, so the proportions are off. Oh well, time to tear it apart!

That shade of OD green is much better looking than the other 'green', love how the pic in the listing says, "toy grade" lol.

This is for tandem axles. But the height should be relevant.

I got mine the other day, posted a build thread about it in the micro crawler part of the rccrawler forums. since 1.5's look WAY too big on it.

it's really an oddity in size, I am currently converting my 1/18 D90 into more of a 1/16th jeep, and even the RC4WD 1/18 axles are too narrow without using spacers, a 1/24 would be too small period.

even Tamiya 1/14 sized tires look too large. you could do it, but it would look like it's trying to be a super swamper with the wrong tread.

interesting note as well. the 1/18 electronics cannot handle the stock motor. too large. but I think using a servo motor in the D90 transmission may work out perfectly. as it's metal. and stronger. I'll be making several 3d printed parts for this as well.

Exactly, Abrams is 96" tall, M35 is 112" tall.

Turns out a Hitec HS55 and a B1R fit in the stock electronics tray pretty nicely. made some quick servo mounts, slapped in the B1R and a Tactic RX, soldered it up and took it outside. It's small and silly and bouncy but pretty funny. The stock motor is a torqueless wonder and it seems geared too high, but hopefully that will alleviate drive train stress while the kids bash it around.

Figured I'd start my own thread over here.

What motor did you use? I need something with more torque.

Pic of the motor installed? I measured a 180 will hit the rear center shaft. Did you get to shave any materials?

Anyone have any luck with an upgraded drive line or softer tires? The HBX 2098B wheel & tire seem like a contender, but they're a little bit smaller (but wider).

Make that two requests, please!

E: For anyone interested (and near a Lowes) you can get "Hillman aluminum flat bars" to make new leaf springs in the "hard to find" parts aisle. They're a tad wide, but easier than cutting from a sheet. They're also stiffer.

E2: Nope. Don't use aluminum unless there's a good way to stiffen it. Also, how much aluminum can one safely inhale?

Hi all, we talk about this car on another forum and we also think its 1:18 or 1:20 scale
For leaf springs i will use this:
https://www.banggood.com/Recoil-Pull...r_warehouse=CN
It's great for it but it's 6mm wide and original is 5mm but for me it's not a problem because i want to make new mounts for it.
As far i designed servo mount that worked and posted STL for print and Tomorrow i will install dual motor mount that will solve speed problem.
I would like to show some photos but I cant's find option to post photos on this forum :(

Here You have exact specification of this car in real life:
https://grautogallery.com/vehicles/1...35a2-2-1-2-ton

Sorry for putting link to other forum but i posted photos of new dual N20 motor mount and it's great
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...4#post38665885
I modify it but can't try new mount but it should work as well but motors are now closer to wheels so shaft's are more inside.
You will also find there links to servo mount and I will post here also movie showing how I did that and how that work but for older version before upgrade :P

The GAZ-66 version is up on GearBest now. Ordered one in green, says it should ship next week.

Aluminum will become brittle and break very quickly. "Spring steel strips" returns quite a few Google results. Maybe they're is something in a suitable size?

Would one of these bodies fit a losi MRC-sized axle? I've got one I don't really use and would LOVE to build a GAZ66 out of it.

A pull starter spring from a lawn mower or the like would probably yeild a few dozen sets of rc leaf springs.

Yes but that is not a problem and this will work much better than that metal thing

I took the plunge and ordered one of these as well. I think the body alone is worth the money even if I end up sitting it on another 16th or 18th chassis.

How long did shipping take for you all?
