| Toyota - Out of my Comfort Zone
Trying to do something a little different this time with an Axial SCX10 II. Started by removing all the Axial parts in the driveline and replaced it with the GCM Racing SCX trans Conversion kit. As usual, it comes packaged very nicely and is engineered to the highest quality. Not pictured is a couple bits I already had because I made the order in two parts because I a complicated individual. As per usual, the stuff from GCM just all goes together quite easily and works as intended. The goal here is scale driveline, overdriving the front axle, putting more weight up front and running a hard body in C1 for next year. After a bit of fiddling, here's everything assembled with a motor over the actual motor. Yes, it's a Toyota. Surprise Surprise. Under that fake real motor, is a 3100kv Element Proof Roc412HD mated to an RX4. With this new transmission and transfer case, I lose a little wheelspeed but gain a bunch of torque and overdrive to the front axle. Everyone knows you need that to comp properly. Lots more room for junk, and I like having the motor in the right place. Cue new2rocks finally being able to say "I told you so." ;) More to come, but most importantly, the body choice: It's a Trekker, as provided by n00b. He did these resin cast back parts that are wonderful. Mind the gap, there won't be a gap. Did this just to mock up and get link lengths. Success. Turk. It'll require a little cleaning up, but man, such a cool, rare piece. Pretty excited to have this project on the go. |

GCM prints them through Shapeways. Quote:
Sheathed my links with brake line, started filling in some imperfections in the rear. Also cut the bonnet off. And started auditioning tires. These widdle beauties are from Pit Dog. 1.55" for the victory. Stretched them over some 1.7 wagon wheels. I like. Oh, here's the truck I'll be copying.

Lmbo at david bowie joke hahahahaha!!!! Sick build and what would it take to get one of those trekker caps? I need a cap for my ford build, anything will help to use as a base to get me started. That said, nice toyota. You plan on axle swap too? I hope to see yota axles under there. I mean, its got a 22r so... ;) Super sweet build, and i love 1:1 inspired rigs. |

Yay, so progress kind of. N00b inner fenders for fending off comments about seeing the engine bay. See? Can't see through mostly now. And finally, even though I'd done a ton of work on the scratch made interior, I got tired/lazy and plopped RC4WD's four door hilux interior in just to see if it would fit. Lo and behold, it does. So... Scratch made interior, or I suck at tiny trucking? I'll let you decide.

That little 22R looks absolutely perfect in there. I can almost smell the leaky valve cover dripping onto the down pipe ! rc4wd interior looks decent, except that the steering wheel is on the side for island nations. |

I'm also mounting a Toyota (albeit a hilux) to an SCX10. I've Adjusted my wheelbase, but now I'm unsure of how to mount the body. I'm curious to see just what move you make here - subbed!
