| Jeep j10 Honcho " Twister " now with Dorothy
Back in 06/07 I had obtained a NIB Parma Jeep J10 body. My idea was to build a replica J pick up from the movie twister. My buddy Dan Wyatt was going to do the paint and I was going to take care of the rest. JIA also had a part in it later on when we got word that Danny talked to Parma and they were planning to re-release the body. RCD was suppose to get rights to debut but that didn't work out and the idea of the project kind of fizzled away. Then Verne LowNslowtj built a gladiator j series truck out of a clod body. It was one of my favorite builds and sadly I missed out on buying and it ended up in the hands of PFB. I still wanted to build the Twister truck but a lexan body just wasn't going to cut it so I talked to my buddy Rich and he was up for the task of building the body. I have had the body for quite some time. I had an unfortunate set back with the paint. Apparently the can of yellow I had was old and it laid terribly so opted to strip it in some purple power which unfortunately also ate all the spot filler I was pretty pissed so the body sat for months until now. I am finishing up the exhaust on the blue lux and I needed something to build this winter a long with the long over due EddieV 4Runner. I picked up a west coast machining chassis and some RC4WD K44 to get me motivated and I got started. Currently sitting on bruiser leafs, RC4WD 1.55s and tires quick pic the goal O yeah and it will have one of these Today I laid the stripes on it, still need to add the black. Painted the wheels and now I am on an EPIC hunt for CLEAR clod buster glass (anyone?) Stay tuned for more -Mike Last edited by 1BadJeepBruiser; 11-07-2011 at 05:32 PM. |

Been working on this thing a lot. I spent a lot of time painting in the details. I also had Off The Grid Off Road Vacuum form me a clear window . start of the mirrors Hilux side markers doubling as Jeep J side markers door lines, hood lines, door frames, window molding etc all painted in Wheels, have to shorten the stub shafts then its getting some Rouge Element Warn lock outs Grill tail gate and tail lights Starting a tiny bit of rust, I am also going to try and whip up some scale mud as well. Also added in some turn signal/marker lights start of the bed More to come! |

Great job, can't wait to see it finished. What did you use for the turn signal lights below the headlights? Also, did you make the mirrors yourself? |

Quick update Started on the back window, molding just needs paint then it can be glued on Rear bumper, just glued the end caps on, they need to be sanded and molded in Yup, looks the part Started on the dash Mirrors Forgot, I added in the fuel filler...made a cap, gotta take some pics I had started upholstering a reproduction Hilux interior then after watch the beginning of the movie several times I realized it had bucket seats. So I then started to cut it the bench up to make 2 bucket seats when I stumbled upon these Needless to say the Bruiser seats got scrapped Not sure if I am going to lighted gauges in the dash, I dont want to take to much attention away from the Dorothy unit but ya gotta have Keys right? And you definitely cant chase twisters without a lot of use of the skinny pedal and I am sure I will find some use for these as well, I know at least the CB More to come Last edited by 1BadJeepBruiser; 11-23-2011 at 10:57 PM. |

Lovin the worn bed and side mirrors. You must have used some tiny wire there. Such a clean build! Are you gonna use metal for the rear bumper or leave it styrene?

Bumper is staying styrene. The Dorothy is gonna be mega heavy because the square stock holding the system and its components I am going to braze together out of solid 3/16 square. | ||

I'm a touch confused about the rc-crawler.it website you've shown up there. As far as I can see it's an Italian website, but do they sell those products? And I cannot seem to find any of the pics you posted from their site. I really like some of those products and was hoping to see more. Can you help me out here, as my Italian is not very good............. |

Still waiting on my parts for the interior so I decided to get some of the metal work done. started with finishing up the rear bumper and I also cut the Dorothy out of some PVC pipe. roll bar You can see the fuel filler I cut in too Front brush guard I drilled and tapped the front bumper and the body so the screws in the front are now was secures the front of the body. No body pins on this builds Going to start some more work on it now, stay tuned -Mike |
