Never built a scale rig before. Saw this kit and had to give it a go. So far I’ve built the chassis, painted the body, rusted it, and designed and 3D printed some engine parts. Engine is based on a red diamond inline 6. I also have the bed finished. Built a wooden create for the battery to hide in. I’ll update more pics as the build progresses. | Re: King Kong/International KR11 Thanks! Haven’t had any trouble getting things tucked away yet. Made a few accessories for the bed this morning. Still needs some paint. Hers a few creates and some 3D printed bottles. Seems like a good truck for running booze out in the country. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wiring for the head and tail lights done. Also finished and installed the battery box. Made a small CB to mount on the dash but it still needs some detailing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The rust looks especially realistic and scale. What kind of method do you use to make it?

Loving this build. I found these on Thingverse. They’d look good in the bed, too. |

Thanks for all the positive comments! The rust I am using is a product from Sophisticated Finishes. It is an iron based paint that goes on first, followed by an oxidizer. I apply a few coats of oxidizer at different stages to produce different effects. Its hard to see in the pictures, but it also produces a nice texture. Aside form the rust, most of the paint is airbrushed, dried, and then wiped with metallics, blacks and whites to produce an aged look.
