Default Need recommendations for a 242mm/9.5" chassis.

I've got my body selected. Now I need help figuring out my chassis. I see the Asiatees is 252mm. Is there anything else I should look at? Would prefer to stay SCX based.

9.5" on an SCX10 base chassis will be difficult, do-able but not simple. I was able to shrink one down to 10 1/2" but I cant imagine dropping another inch. Build thread here Caught the Bug (Scorcher Build)
Reducing the wheelbase causes a number of clearance issues that need to be addressed including suspension travel, steering geometry and driveshaft clearance.

Getting a 252mm wheelbase chassis and reducing it by 10mm will be significantly easier than starting with a 312mm chassis. Another plus if its the Boomracing chassis is that their axles are narrower in width which is likely to fit a small body better than an SCX axle. All you should need is to shorten the links with new links or shorter rod ends and possibly shortening the driveshaft.

I reduced an SCX10 to fit my Newbright TJ Tombraider. If you're using links, it's easy but you will have to get creative with your drive train.

Here's a couple pics of mine...

Great advice. I'm gonna order the above chassis kit and trim her down. Looks like I'll have to figure out the CMS.

The Barrage wheelbase is 9.9" I believe. Lots of guys are running that chassis with SCX10 axles, custom links, and some are even using SCX10 transmissions. It's an option worth looking at.

I've got a set of AR44s and Beef Tubes narrow AR44s on the way. Hoping to figure out a forward transmission and utilize a Rc4wd style tcase so that I can ru. A tiny skid plate. Should hopefully help with driveline clearance.

I used the Boomracing kit to build for a Sand Scorcher body with an SCX10ii kit. The best I got out of it with (I think) decent geometry is 255mm without the shocks being at bad angles but Im new at this and learning as I go. The links in the kit aren't the best and the driveshafts had rust on them though they seemed ok after I cleaned them up. The quality is just ok and the kit comes with no paperwork or instructions...if you have experience you could probably make a better kit for less money.

If you want to venture away from the SCX10, the MST CMX or CFX would be perfect.

In hindsight I wish I had used the CMX

Sorry, I hadn't realized you already made your decision. The MST trucks are very cool.

Im not the OP, I was just supporting your opinion on using the MST instead of the SCX10 for SWB. I do not know if the OP went with the Boomracing kit or not...

I would second this. I am using one to try to build a 8.5" wheelbase rig. I shortened up the drive shafts and the angles weren't as bad as I though they'd be.
