| Jebster's Subaru Brat
I've had this body around for a few years. I always loved the look of a brat set up for offroading and trailing. When I saw the boom racing brx70 narrow axles I knew I had the driveline made for this build. I also happened to have a swb kit for the scx10 that I was able to use to get the rails inside the short body. Still had to cut about 0.5" off the front. To keep the body tucked low I have to concentrate the electronics to the skid area (I'm not going to do an interior). I decided to move the steering servo and use a steering block made for a tamiya semi. Because I want an external cage tight to the body I've had to come up with a way to insert the body. I'm going to make it so the cage bolts to the front and rear bumpers as two halves. Lots more work to go but the pics should give you an idea of where it stands today. |

| Re: Jebster's Subaru Brat Thanks. First time I've put together a rig based on 1.55 wheels so packing things into a tight space if fun. Plus having a cage tracking the body lines closely is proving to be a challenge with the tube bending equipment I have (which is practically none! )

Got some more cage work done. Sticking with my plan to have the ability to split the cage so I can wrap it around the body. It will have points with bolts that allow it to be rigid.

More tube work completed. Has the passenger side done and added some tabs to the top tubes for mounting roof rack.

I love how the cage echos the lines of a Subaru GL Wagon.

It's been ages since I worked on this build. Too many other projects I started. I am getting this finished up soon. Had to come up with an easy way to lock in the rear of the cage to the frame that allows me to open it up easily. I fabricated a spring loaded pin setup that seems to be working out good. Got everything painted up and assembled. Still needs a little finishing work like scale accessories and a light bar but I'm really liking how it has come together.
