Default My Toyota Is Longer Than Yours

Time to check another build off the list. A Toyota Custom Cab.

As the story goes, you'd buy a brand new Toyota truck from the dealer then it would be sent off to be cut and stretched like a limousine. There was a company called Fabco that made the fiberglass cab extension. The trucks were ridiculously long and just as ugly. My favorite combination.

Extra long, extra adjustable GCM CMAX set to 15 inch wheelbase.

BowHouse NCYota 152s.

There's a gap to fill.

What a monstrosity.

Made some windows.

Cut out the grille

Preliminary coat of primer and some sanding. She's rough!

But it looks right

Owned one back when I graduated high school. Day after I graduated drove it from Florida to California, sleeping in the stretch part/sleeper. Loved taking it camping and fishing, But, someone liked it better than I did. It was stolen from the Marine recruiter as I was signing up.
Fantastic build (as always). Can't wait to see it done.

Awesome! I love those old coach-built custom 1:1's. Looking forward to seeing the final result.

Kick-ass.... lovin' this build.

Ah, I spy a set of the RC4WD Ground Hawgs?

Cool retro tire, was happy to see it released...

Aw man that's a total bummer! But luckily you were able to have fun with it for a little while.

Thanks. Those are the 1.55 Hawgs. Won't be using them though. Just a tad too big for this project.

They're super unique that's for sure.

Cut the bed out to build it at full depth.

These were vacuum formed. I build a lot of Toyotas, it helps to have easily replicated parts on hand. Lol.

Full depth drop bed installed!

How were the cab extensions fitted out from the vendor? Were they just open space or did they have some type of "interior" in them? I know that I could gargle a search, I just prefer a bit of conversation if that's ok.

It was just a bench seat. The RC4WD interior I'm using will work just fine for it.

Yep, mine had a bench seat that my dad and I modified to fold out like a futon. The trip to Cali. I still remember even though it was 30 years ago. And yes, everyone said that it was the ugliest truck they had ever seen.
Mine was lifted with 33" grand prix 4 wheel on-off road rvt's. More updates. I'm jonesing here!!!!!

There's a guy in town that has a 1:1 version of that yota with an exo cage. I'll try to get some pics if you want.
Very cool build by the way.

Glad to see a long wheelbase build. I just built a Bullhead bodied flatbed truck with a similar wheelbase just for fun, it will be mediocre off-road but what the hell!

I like long wheelbase trucks. I’ve done a few 14”+ wheelbase.

Beautiful in an ugly sort of way.

Paint! And some dents! The truck will be weathered a fair bit and kinda crappy looking (to match the bodywork)

Yep, excellent as usual! My gen1 and gen2 had similar dents in both bed wheel wells lol. I've seen a few of these stretches around here, the rear section is as you pictured a simple bench seat sitting low. A modified fold out futon would be nice, but kinda small for comfortable sleeping. Keep up the good work.
