| My Chevy K10
Hi guys...been working on this for a while...this is my first custom truck. The wheely king was my first hobby grade truck and I had a lot of fun with it for a while but I wanted a scale truck. So I took it apart early this year and made a chassis for it. Took me a while just to do the chassis as I didn't have any powertools so I had to use a coping saw to cut it out by hand. For shocks I used the stock WK shocks with internal springs in it...other than that I used the stock WK axles and transmission on my custom chassis. This was also my first time with a lexan body...took me a while to prep everything and I just finished painting it last night. This was my first time airbrushing too...lol as I got the airbrush set like 5yrs ago and never used it till now. I had a crappy lil blue compressor and that took a while as I had to wait for pressure build up after every one or two sprays of paint. Still have to remove the protective film and add decals etc. After that I will build aluminum bumpers for the front and back. |

Looks great, you may want to try to lower the motor down a little to get a better COG

Yeah the COG is a little high...I don't do serious crawling though, mostly trail and bashing around. I though of clocking the transmission but with my chassis it would put the drive shaft angles too steep. I also wanted to keep everything stock so if I wanted I can rebuild my Wheely King. Maybe when I can find a used transmission one day I will lower the COG, which will allow me room to build the interior and put a driver in there... |

Worked on the finishing the decals today. Do you guys put a layer of wax on the lexan? This is my first rc truck so I am a little paranoid about it. I am still deciding on the front grill, whether to use the decal or do a wash on the grill with black paint. |

Took the truck out to the countryside and tested it on all the terrain-rock, dirt gravel road, and ice. I was surprised that at the high COG that I have the truck didn't have any problems at all. I tried speeding and then making a sharp turn but it doesn't flip at all...so I was glad. I will probably lower the motor if I decide to build the interior for it. Made a rear aluminum bumper for it... Might add some D-rings on it later. Also working on making the front bumper. The yellow Bronco I got from SACCO. |
