Default Steering Box

That's an interesting steering box setup. Frame is sweet too.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

It's a small aluminum hat I made that attaches to the motor plate with three screws. Inside there
are two 5x11 bearings and a spacer. The shaft is a 5mm hardened socket head cap screw that's
been cut flat on two sides to fit inside the Axial spur hub. I was going to use another Axial tranny
shaft but figured I'd try this. If it spins true enough I'll stick with it.

I considered using this RC4WD compact reduction I have but it is only 4:1, so not low enough.
Their new Fracture-designed planetary reduction looks like a very cool possibility.

Shot of the steering setup. This should be close to ride height.

So what is keeping you from bump steer over a "normal" setup? I've got a setup like most and I get a bit of bump steer. I have a spacer between draglink and the tierod. And the draglink is bent...

i'm assuming he's going to run a panhard...

definitely looking forward to more progress on this. love the attention to detail and the scale mechanical touches (suspension, steering, etc.).

He will still have some but his drag link is closer to parallel at ride height than most I've seen. It's impossible to eliminate bump steer completely unless your servo is on the axle or your front suspension is nonexistent.

Great work on everything Jay!

Edit: Track bar will help but the axle will need to be able to move off center as the suspension cycles. It will cause bind if a traditional 4 or 3 link is used.

Thanks....yes exactly. No panhard. Tried to get things reasonably flat but will still have a little bump as it cycles.

Just a bit shallower angle. The spacers help, but bending the draglink does zero for changing bunpsteer.
A bent draglink does not affect geometry....only the angle where the rod end sits.

Where did you get the scale shackle from? I've been searching for some of those...

They are Schumo ones for a Tiger I tank. They also make King Tiger ones that are a bit bigger.

Hadn't seen the JP ones before.......those are quite nice and I like the bolt head.

Well, don't those look pretty. Any issues with them going together like their Bruiser reproductions?
