Default Scale Yukon/Boat race team build.

I am going to start my first scale build. I'm using my ax-10 as a base. I want to make a scale tow rig for some of my rc boats. I will also be redoing one of the boats to match the truck. (kinda a race team theme)I thinK???
I don't have any pics for now, just a lot of stuff on order. I will post up some pics as soon as I get started.

Still waiting for the frame and some other things to arrive. I took the Ax-10 apart and got some work done on the body. The boat is all black now. Needs to be wet sanded and the graghics painted on. Here are some pics of the progress. Let me know what you think about the wheel choice. I think I might need bigger 1.9's......

Well, I have the X-Trail all put together. I used the TCS kit for the X-trail to run it with the stock shocks in a droop set up. I hate it!!!!!!! The frame does all the flexing. I have one of the proto frames made of derlin, but I didn.t think it would flex this bad. I will see what I can do to change it to actualy work. Here are some pics of it now.

I'm going to add more spacers to the frame to make it more like a ladder. I think I will run some shocks with springs and not the droop set up. More pics to come.....

I added some bracing and used the battery tray as a brace too. I put some softly sprong shocks in the rear and removed the springs from the front. I am very happy with the flex now! Heres the pics.

Now,

To get back to the boat and to make the trailer....
Oh yeah, and finish the truck.

I will attempt to build one. No pics of what it will be based on. It's all in my head.

I might change to a different body after all is said and done. I'm just coming off of back surgery so the build is slow going. I can't sit or stand for very long yet.

I picked up a new Hard body today. I found it at K-Mart. $7.00 marked down from $39.95. It even has lights. SCORE!!!!!!

It should fit better than the other body. This one is a little wider.

Now, too come up with the paint sceme........
I wish I didn't SUCK at painting!

Just tossed the body on. Its sittin too high, but the stock body mounts are in the way. I will need to shorten the wheelbase a little.

WELL............
I wet sanded the body and started to paint it. The enamel paint I was using interacted with what ever the Chinese used for paint. It looks like complete crap!!! It needs to be sanded down to the bare plastic and started over. I post again in june when I'm done sanding.:-(
In the mean time I will search the bargen bins for A new hard body.
I'm ready to srcap the whole thing and just return it to a 2.2 crawler!

I don't have the time right now to sand and fix the caddy body, so I will save it for my next build. I bought an F-350 crew cab body to build. I will start on the trailer later tonight. I want different 1.9 tires for this thing. Any suggestions????

I'd stick with the caddy. it'll be unique. far less of those than there are ford crew cabs....whats a little sanding? have you seen what IM doing, lol...go ahead and stick with it. I think after you get the body right you'll be much more satisfied with your build.

either way, good progress.

I don't have the time or the energy right now!!! I had back surgery 2 months ago.(still in PT 3 times a week) I have a 21 month old and a 1 1/2 month old. So the sanding(and it will need to be sanded bare) will have to wait. I'm going to use that body for my next scale build. I have some really cool ideas for it.
Besides, the F-350 makes a more beleavable tow rig;)
Now, any suggestions on the tires???? I'm thinking slingers or some RPP crazy crawlers.
