OK, don't judge a book by its current cover. I felt like building up my x-trail stock first just to analyze the design. Seems cool but a bit if axle steer. I shortened the lower links to help reduce the steer, didn't seem to help too much. My plan is to use my beat up Bruiser cab cut off the back end end of the x-trail and add a bunch of tube. First the current specs: -X-trail chassis -AX10 axles and trans -Traxxas Long shocks with Losi 2" red springs (too stiff) -Delrin skid and cross-members -MG645 servo Future specs: -55t V11 motor -Rooster Crawler I mounted the stock batt plate up front w/ acouple Al brackets: More to come next weekend when I get back from a week long business trip... One way you can reduce some of the axle steer is by bringing the lower links just inside the chassis. This adds triangulation to them keepin things more in line during articulation. Deff sounds like you have some great plans for this rig. lookin forward to seein how it turns out. |

I actually tried that but then the links hit the inside of the chassis rails. In that same config if you move the links inward on the axle then you get inverse trianglation and the axle steer gets worse. | |

any time man! another way i have seen it done is to mount the links at the axle further in as you said you have tried.(to help clear the chassis) then mount the links at the chassis in the center. this should greatly reduce the amount of axle steer. theres two downsides to it though. not as scale lookin an youd either have to mod the center skid you have or jus make a new one. let me know how it goes. |
