| My K2-5 build 100% more FJC
I haven't built a rig in 4 or so months and now that the Hilux came out I felt it was calling my name. So I am just waiting on my K2-5 chassis, tranny, link mounts, and a few other minor items to arrive. I am hoping to eventually do a full exo, of course by Beckworks There is a lot I still need to do but I will update the thread as I go along. So I have a few shots of it mocked up. The stance should be close to what it is now...if not a little lower. The color is going to be............hot! I can tell you that if it is a nice as I think it will be when I am done, it will rival my FJ tuber....maybe. The TLT axles fit the width almost perfectly. The tires are a good deal bigger than the stock highlift tires and fill the wheel wells just right. I am drooling already and have barely anything done. I just laid the color down. It is Tamiya Candy Metallic Green. Two coats of primer and then about 3 coats of the color. No clear at all. I like it as it is. I plan to mask off the bed and lay flat black down. Hope I don't ruin the color or pull the paint off when I spray the black. I will let it cure overnight and then lay the black down tomorrow. Let me know what you think so far. It will be running: Axial tranny LRP AI ESC 45 or 55 turn motor HS-645MG for steering Spare tire/wheel Head and Tail lights 6 cell 2/3 battery packs I hope to pick up one of Stefan's winches that will be mounted on the Exo. That's an excellent color choice! Nice to see something other than red... Can't wait to see what you do with this one.

Got my chassis and have it mostly sitting under its own weight. Will post photos latter on. I still have a bunch to do. If anybody is wondering...this is the chassis to get for the Yota body. It is perfect! | |

I sprayed the bed yesterday and it came out great. Today I got my new chassis' in the mail. I couldn't be happier with them. Kaetwo will no doubt sell a bunch. They are perfect for the Hilux body. The chassis is laying flat up under the bed and I will need to make a mount for the front. Hopefully there will be no binding on the driveshafts. Once everything is in the truck I am sure the suspension will compress a little. Its stance is awesome but I would like it a tad lower if I can get it to do that. Hopefully I will have a runner this weekend. I still need to finish the body, sleeve the links, and add the tranny and running gear. The steering servo will be mounted to the chassis most likely. The photos do not do the color justice. |

This is turning out great, that color really "Pops" and makes it stand out. Very cool, I like it! Can't wait for my chassis to get here to get started on another build.

Are the links custom made? Damn you, I just got my Hilux High Lift and wanted to leave it stock, but with all of these K2-5 builds, and seeing how nice the Hilux sits on that chassis, I don't know about the stock part anymore. Hell, I even like the color alot. Thanks alot.. |

The links are just threaded 6/32 rod cut to size. I am using Traxxas rod ends. I have gotten a lot more done tonight and am continuing to do so. Progress pics will have to wait |

No photos just yet but I wanted to post an update. The body sits lower now that I put TLT shocks on it. They will be turned down soon. The suspension is all droop. I will run internal springs to limit the down travel. I also used styrene to make wheel wells, which will be sprayed flat black. I have the rear done and need to figure out how to do the fronts but I need to mount the front of the body first. The rear is mounted and came out pretty clean. The steering servo is mounted to the front cross brace. As long as I don't get alot of bump steer I will keep it mounted on the chassis. I plan on installing lights in the body too. I have a great idea as to hide the battery and keep everything clean looking. I want people to mistake this for a 1:1 when looking at photos of it. A whole bunch of photos tomorrow. If the weather is nice I will get a few outdoor shots. |
