Ya I'm going to. just need to see I can build a nice link/trans mount and if it's worth it to just use an SCX roller to start with. The other issue is, I'm figuring I'll just be using the hood, grill & cowl of the body so do I really want to cut up a new body just for those parts?

I got some parts to get this thing rolling. A new SCX chassis & Hand Bros steering kit. I've stripped my F350 down to the chassis & body to be sold. So with the drivetrain and the new frame I can start building. The idea has changed since I first posted but the end result will still be a 1.9 Jeep of some sort.

Finally some progress, So the SCX chassis is here & assembled. I've sketched out a design for the tube work. I know it's no 3D CAD drawing but it's what I do. The truck is driveable and once I finish all the other work I've got going on right now I'll start on the tube work for this. Here's a few pics of it currently. This body is temporary till all the cage is done, then I'll most likely cut up the NIP body I have. I do plan on pushing the rear back for a 12" WB. The body is all the way down on the shock towers unfortunatly, cause I want it lower. |

Worked on this thing a bit last night, got the front bumper done. Nevermind how the body sits, the bumper is straight Now I'll start working on the rest. It's going to be a slow build. I just picked up another spektrum RX so I can now claim to be out of the stone ages. The LHS had the 106mm lower links to push the rear end back as well. I built a rear 4 link truss but think I may change it a bit. The link bolts are vertical and hitting the frame before full compression, I want them horizontal. I've started on the cage work, slider piece is one and I'm building this as the drawing indicates. I've also stretched the wheelbase to aid in climbing and stability at speed. Slider from the side from the bottom |

It's amazing how things have changed in 2 years isn't it? I still think the original frame is killer. But the SCX frames make things so much simpler. Especially with the holes already drilled and so many aftermarket parts available. Drawing looks promising. Hope to see this one finished. |

I did come up with a question for you Honcho guys. Since I've moved the rear axle back using the 106mm links my MIP rear shaft is too short. Have they come out with a longer shaft for the rear of the Honcho? I looked on Towers site for a part that would work but no luck.

Awesome I do that. Thanks. I bent some more tube tonight. I'm trying to make the A pillar go from the firewall floor, up the dash, along windsheild, over seats then down to the beltline. The problem is I had planned on welding the beltline hoop to the A pillar at dash level. So I can't attach the beltline hoop until the A pillar is in and I can't attach the end of the A pillar till the beltline is in. So I'm doing some thinking tonight mainly. |

I decided that since getting CJ8 bodies is next to impossible I'd make my own hoods and find/or make sheetmetal grill. That way I don't need to cut up my NIP body. Here's my 1st attempt. Not bad but I'll try again. |

Hood and grill are awesome. Where did the grill come from? It looks pretty thick.

The grill though about 3/8" to narrow was laser cut from 3/16" acrylic. I'd like to see if I can get a larger one made and run it. Just need to figure out mounting for it.
