Default Rover 101fc 6x6?!

My cameras down atm, but I figured I'd get a teaser post up. Half way done with the cab. I'm going for a D110 fire truck frame conversion, so there will be coils all around with 4 link. I'd like to do the walking beam that was on the limited run military version, but I'm going to be running this truck ALOT and don't feel like replacing leafs every other run. I'm working with the old 110 frame I made a while back for the 1.9 build-off (with a little tweaking.) It's going to keep the GD600 as the main to an Emaxx trans with the 2-speed still active. Pics up tonight!

Ok so my inital post was paved with good intentions but work totally took over. I started to frame out the bed and ran out of styrene. Heres what I have so far. I also started on some real looking boggers but I'm not sure if I want to keep going on them.

A little bit of progress. Bed is mostly complete. I started to map out the suspension, and I'm most likely going to ditch the old 110 frame for something flatter. I also built the working steering wheel and made a little test video.

Looking good! Is that a servo to turn the steering wheel?

Thanks. Yep thats an HS-81 with styrene tube glued straight to it and larger tube on the outside so the turn marker housing doesn't spin around.
I'm going to clean the base up once the rest of the styrene is done.

I'm most likely going to run the swamp dawgs on wider wheels. They look correct for scale, but the RC4WD true scales pull them in WAY too much. I understand why I don't see any more of these available at Xtreme RC. They're a beast to get proper line up.
The seats are actually 1/6 gijoe willys ones. I'm not even going to get into how big of a pain it is to shave out the center 1" and mate uneven surface rubber plastic
I also got a little bit more bedwork and frame trimming done last night but ran out of camera battery. I think the old 2 megapixel is on its last legs and needs to be put out of its misery. Cell phone pics tonight.

So I'm still battling with the garbage camera, but the 101 is finally sitting on 6. The rear driveline is in place, just waiting on some touring shocks to hold it up. The body is just about complete. Needs patchwork and other small detail.

Pics:

I know the hardware is REALY mismatched. I'm waiting on an order.

Got her up and running. Ditched the gd600 to wk for an rc4wd trans. turned vertically. The difference is unbeleavable. Keep in mind the body is no where near complete and I have a ton more testing to do before I'll ever be happy.

I think a soft top over the cab, no canvas over the back would look good. With an EXO of course.

Great work C-N-S, I have plans on doing a steering set up very similar to this on my rubicon.
I have a ? for ya, Did you just wire the 2 servos together then plug them in to the same channel ?
Or did you use a servo splitter?

THAT is freaking awesome! I put a TD5 in a 101 a few weeks ago. Always been a fan of them since i was little kid, and offroad theyre in a league of there own.

Some guy near me also has one, its the van type and hes built the rear into a mobile home with stove and everythin. Often see it parked in the harbour, door height in water with him sat on the roof with a bbq.

Im in the midst of a Landrover 3/4 ton scale build at the mo.

Somebody needs to make some scale michelin military tyres. (nudge nudge rc4wd)

Shall be watchin this one.
