| Yes, it started life as a Bruiser body. The thing that makes it 4Runner like is that it has a back seat now, with the removed top, and internal roll cage, so it doesn't really look like a pickup any more. Agreed, the cab and bed need to be smoothed together, which I'll do at some point...

Got the shocks set up the way I want now, and the front body posts on (yes they will be cut down). Next I need to mount the rear of the body, and then install the transmission and trim the body to clear it. I will also be installing a steering servo on the frame, with proper linkage. Flex is good for a scaler. I may try to bring the body down a half inch or so??? Need more offset on the wheels, which will come with the beadlocks from RC4WD. Pics: |

This is starting to look really cool. The only thing I don't like about it is that it looks like it's got so many coats of paint that all the body lines have gone. But the over all style is great.

Actually, the body lines are gone because the previous owner of the body, who did most of the mods, smoothed them all out on purpose with some sort of epoxy. Not much I can do to get them back... :-(

Well, it's been quite a while since I had a chance to work on this much, and finally had some time to get it up and running (sorry I didn't do periodic updates), so here are the results. I put some rear straight axle adapters on, Axial transmission, drive shafts and metal yokes, some custom mounts here and there, etc. The steering servo is frame mounted. The ESC and motor went in easily, and I got the battery strapped in as forward and low as possible. The interior got a couple minor additions, such as an air tank and fire extinguisher. Got the seats and Jr. put in. I had to do quite a bit of cutting to get the transmission and motor to clear, and fought to get the body as low as it is. New wheels really set it off in my mind. I know the body still needs some attention, but whatever; it's a runner. I'm debating adding bumpers. Have a light kit that needs to go on, but I need to track down some lenses first. I think it turned out pretty well though. Good trail rig. Here's a bunch of pictures from taking it out back today, and a body off shot: |
