| Bobbed 4Runner
Okay, I've got just about everything I need for my next 1.9 scaler, so I figured I would start posting. I decided to jump on the Toyota bandwagon for my next build but I wanted to do something a little different than everybody else (I prefer the unconventional). I have picked up a bunch of used stuff off here, off ebay, and stripped from a couple other rigs I sold off. Here is my pile-o-parts: Build List: Bruiser body converted to 4Runner - no doors - bobbed bed - internal cage - bench seat moved to rear - Recaro seats for front (not installed yet) - flame paint job Custom delrin frame (I need to narrow it for this build) Locked TLT axles Leafs in the front 4-link in the rear Axial transmission Novak Rooster ESC Integy 55T motor RC4WD Crushers (5 including functional spare) Ace memory foams Hilux shocks Black RC4WD shock boots on order (hopefully they will fit) RC4WD Rampage bead lock wheels on order that will replace the HPI stock car wheels And I have a light kit with two headlights, two taillights, and two fog/offroad lights that will get installed Not sure what I'm doing for bumpers yet Here are a couple mock up shots: This should be another fun build, and a capable trail rig... |

I bought the body with that paint job. I had to do a quick spray on the bottom (all the black) because that part was really bad. The flames are decent, but yeah, they don't really fit the theme... I'm definitely considering a new paint job.

| Now in Blue!
I went down to Autozone and started shopping for a new color. Settled on "Bahama Blue". It's a nice bright blue with a little metallic in it. Did some minor prep work (this is going to be a true trail rig, so I'm not too concerned about a show quality paint job), and got it sprayed. I still have some trim work to do, but I like the look of the blue and silver, with black interior. Here's a picture. Much nicer than before. |

The door area is PIMP! Much nicer and cleaner than just cutting the doors out and leaving it.

funny, I was just going to build a 4runner from the hilux for someone... I love the new color. I would have filled the gap between the bed and cab on the outside sides though, to make it more like a true 4runner. agreed on the doors, should have been cut down, not missing. although now you could do some tube doors and that would look trick. |

I haven't done any of the body work on this thing. Just bought it that way. I was thinking about adding some tube doors though.

I finally got some more work done on this one. I narrowed the frame to match up with the width of the leaf springs on the TLT axle. I also notched the skid plate so I could run the lower links in the rear up inside the frame rails. Mounted the front and rear axles, made the links for the rear, etc. Next I need to build my shocks and get those installed. The rear will be run in a droop setup for now to keep the stance low but still allow some decent flex. Looks like the back tires will tuck up nicely, but I really don't know what the offset of the new RC4WD beadlocks will be like compared to these (I'm sure they will stick out some more). I also found myself a driver. I figured with this wide open body, I had to have someone in the driver's seat, and it looks like it will be Dale Jr. I have to modify the orientation of his arms and legs some, and give his clothes a new paint job, but he should work pretty well. |

Actually, the main reason I got Dale is because he was already in a somewhat seated position, making it much easier to modify him into the truck than any of the others... I do wish it was Sr. though...
