Default LAND ROVER FC101 on stock AX10 CHASSIS

Wanted to post a build of my Fc101. The project goal was to see what could be built on a S T O C K Ax10 chassis. Only the body mounts will be changed. I may try a custom chassis down the line but for now, its staying stock. I will post photos when I am allowed to. What are the rules?

Model shots and details:

All the AX10 suspension parts will be blacked out when I begin painting the model.

A canvas top will be stiched up and draped over the brass frame.

Access to the body mounts is through the rear drop canvas.

The interior will be a basic bust design.

Final wheels will be modified Tamiya Hummers

This model will have a full weathering job similar to this AEC I did in 1/16th scale. Upper is fully scratch-built and the drivetrain is a modified Team Associated RC18t.

Based off the tank you did (very nice detail) this should be one heck of a good build..! I would worry about it being top heavy, with that said I sure hope that brass will hold up the weight on roll overs...

Unless you make frame and shock changes, I think you are going to have some severe body roll.

Body looks awesome though!

I have tested the rig with the body on and its more than adequate for scale running and crawling. The front springs will need to be changed out before its done but other than that, no issues. Approach and departure angles are great for a large subject too. Last night I did cross brace the frame with more soldered brass.

Another shot from a low camera angle. Tamiya wheels are coming soon and the top fabric has been purchased. Looking for tools in 1:9th scale. Anyone have any links?

That's true but I'm always open to readily available parts.I will build that darned shovel someday.....As for the top, I have my dad sewing it up next week. Should look real nice. I plan to have the rear opening untied so you can reach in to remove the body.

Some photos of the progress. Finished the fuel tank and decided to add one on the other side. It may be a bit out of scale but helps to hide the chassis. The green paint is a metal etching primer and will be sprayed on the tanks too. The bust interior is started. Will have a steering wheel and a couple of details. Tamiya wheels added also.

It makes the paint stick better to brass and solder. Otherwise, you can chip it off with a fingernail. I have been using it for years on my RC submarines. We use a lot of brass on them.
