Default scaler playground, xc pajero *interior pic update & video*

hi there

beginning to feel comfortable in the scaling, i decidet to get a cheap xc pajero which i declared as my playground before i'm going to buy something more expensive.

i first thougt just to create some more lights, adding other wheels and coloring the body in flat black because i only painted lexan up to now.

first result,

getting some inspiration in this forum, seeing all these overwhelming scalers, i started once again.

tried to imitate some rust, don't know if the pajeros ever can be that rusty, but as i said, it's a playground. just imagine, the car stood besides the sea for a long time :-)

lifted the chassis with 70 (front) and 90 (rear) mm shocks, tried to improve the the really sick steering, and started to paint it again....

so, here's the first result. it's never going to be a real shelf queen i think, but a very good area trying out...

the self made lights will be fitted some sort of better, i think it's best if they will be covered by a frame or someting like that.

furthermore, there's a interior waiting and a driver as well. wind shield, side windows will be replaced by clear lexan.

trying also to create a roofrack, got first inspirations, but don't know already how to practice....

will be continued, looking forward to some comments....

I like the way it came out. Especially the wheels. They look great all rusted up

Cant wait to see how you do the interior.

Keep it up.

I think mine needs rust now!

hi

of course you may ask, i think it's not a big secret at all.

first, you apply some very liquid instant glue on the parts you want to have rusty. then you take some very tiny graveled material. i used some glass filler, but i think you get the same result with very thin sand or something like that.

take acrylic color, not the waterbased. paint the whole car the way you want to (main color) and after drying, begin to add the rust with a ordinary brush. in my case, i mixed the color myself. be careful, don't take to much color. before the color dries, add some (much) thinner mixed with the rust color on the rusty parts. the thinner will take some color as well and will float towards the ground. like that, you get the effect of the rusty patina on plastic parts.

hope this helped a little....

well, ok, today, finally, my mud slingers arrived. the ones who say that the 1.9 slingers fit the pajero, they are wrong :-) i lifted my rig to 70mm in the front and to 90mm in the rear and the wheels are still touching the body... nevertheless, awesome tires!!!! just thought loosing my eyes driving around with the slingers for the first time.....

the suspension didn't really work, to hard springs, so i 'created' some sort of 2step springs from my former tamiyatimes, 2 onroadsprings, soft and very soft on one damper, great result!

so, here are the first pics in action. do you think it's a pity driving this body? i'm not, not at all hehe....

lights were removed because they're not glued in already

Not at all! Looks very nice! I hope to acquire some of those rims soon. They look good with the Mud Slingers. What are you using inside the tires?

actually, i'm just using the ordinary tyre inserts, no weights yet. they're on the way from bauteil1.com.

but these tyres are really awesome, even with no extra weight. will get them for my gmade spider as well....

will try to do something new, rusty holes in the body, quite afrakid using the dremel but there's no other way :-)

Love it!
Looks like any number of "woods" style trucks that you might see here in western PA... Like a Zuki or any of the other cheep jeeps out of the early 90's that are now in primer and rust...
looking forward to see what you do next!

hi

well, a little small update from the body and some experiences i made with some upgrades...

today, finally, the bauteil1 weights and my integy 85 turn motor arrived. impatient, waiting till this evening, i went straight into our headquarter to test....

Click the image to open in full size.
buuuh, no way, no go, damn it... dunno why, but with the weights (190 gramms/wheel) and the 85 turn engine, there was no chance to climb just the smallest little hill. didn't have enough torque!!!!

well, put in the lousy mabuchi-stock motor and now it really rocks with the weights... the little gm purple ESC allows to accelerate softly, steering problems were solved as well. quite happy actually, but really unhappy with the integy 85 turn... this motor was suggested by users in a other forum....

then i cut out the smoky windshield and the front side windows. the windshield got replaced by clear lexan (quite a world war bending it in the right angle. next, i'm going to try to create an interior. first problem... steering servo and servo horn take loads of space...

Great work on the steering wheel Where is that interior from? It seems to be a great fit for the Pajero! Also some lexan half way rolled down windows would look mint!!!

Keep it up great job!
