| Maddog Madigan's fj cruiser
Well off to start, thumbs up rc4wd finally stepping it up. I'll throw a couple pics in to show I built this and didn't buy it already finished, Lol! The week gelande 2 w/cruiser body came out to preorder I was on it. Started to watch other threads and decided to go with a classic look but showroom shine. Yes it will get dirty but in due time. A bunch of detail on the body and interior will get that extra touch that will get my full attention. Also I went with Tamiya paints and fine primer. Also Rpp rocks! A couple more pics in time will show that I built this. On to the pics. More to come |

This is what grabbed my attention. First step was sanding and prepping body for some color. Then I applied 3-4 coats of primer. After waiting for 24 dry time, I then prepped body for main base coat with pure white, 3-4 coats, waited another day. Then taped off for second color, French blue from Tamiya. |

Where did you find the inner fenders? I couldn't find them in stock anywhere when I ordered my kit 2 weeks ago.

Thanks Sal, I've been holding onto this color for a scorcher body but felt this color would be as close to the reference pic. Came out to my liking. I have to give thanks to Cory for giving some paint step ideas.

| Re: Maddog Madigan's fj cruiser Well thanks Neil, I hope you grabbed a large bucket and have plenty of cool refreshments, it might be awhile before I post again. Just kidding. I just need to spend some attention to the other bodies you built. They deserve to be finished in style. Forgotten Ford Maddogs&Englishman |

I recommend sub to rc4wd new products, the min they posted in was in stock, hit the Pp button. I must say kinda a fluke or stupid luck. I'm not seeing many out in threads or google searches and yes all hobby shops from what I know say out of stock.

Before I could go any further, I needed to finish a flaw in the paint. For some reason it never adhered or bonded. My guess is the area wasn't washed good enough or soap residue was left behind. What I did was wet sanded the flaw area with some 1500 then dried off with paper towel. Let set in sun for thirty min. Then tape it off and prep for a quick shot of primer again. Then followed by four coats of French blue again. I think it turned out ok. Before After Felt like I needed to add some paint but this time it was on the d90. Now for the grill and markers are next. |
