Talk about bringing one up from the dead !!, LOL !! Yes, unfortunately for me Clampy was sold off a few years ago to a good buddy of mine, but I know he's kept it on display with all of his other prized possession trucks, so I knew it landed in great hands !! I DO miss it, but it was time to make some room in my collection AND free up some $$ for my 1:1's !

I am now building my 2nd Toyota truggy. I read your thread years ago for tips and tricks. None of mine have ever had the level of scale that you gave Clampy. But you Sir are a talented inspiration to us all. Outstanding job of an terrific truck.

Thank You very much for the kind and inspiring words my friend ! Unfortunately Its been awhile since I've played around much with the R/C's, BUT I still do have one or 2 unfinished scalers on the workbench downstairs that are just itching to be built, so We'll see what happens this coming winter - Hopefully I can get down and build something cool - HOPEFULLY !!

You should send photos of it to Peterson's 4wheel and off-road mag and maybe they will feature it because of the perfection of the build in resemblance to clampy. I know you sold it but you still have the pictures

Wow! I was happy to dig this one up from the past. I had not seen this project build before. There is some really amazing build execution in this thread, especially involving styrene work. I know that ...51 sold the rig years ago, but this is a build thread that should be seen by newer folks in the hobby like myself.

I have a hard body hilux and an SMF cage that have been sitting on my shelf for almost a year. This thread inspires me to finally get it out and get going on my first hard body build.

Holy CRAP !! When did this one get dug out of the weeds, LOL !!
I'm glad ( and semi amazed) that this thread is still around !! I've been out of the "scaler world" for quite some time now, but just recently dove back in, so who knows, maybe another scratch built thread and build will be born soon !!

The age of a thread like this has no bearing. What you created was very well executed and still very applicable today.

Please do another scratch build and DM me when you start so I can subscribe.

Also, consider moving to Utah as my neighbor so you can help me on my current project.

Well there’s an hour and a half I am not getting back, but it was so worth it. Amazing build! Hope to see something else from you.

WOW! This build is simply amazing. I was about to start building a Hilux but am wondering why bother now since it'll never be this nice. Congrats on some mad skills and an awesome build!

I feel like it would be good to have a 'Memorable Builds' section so threads like these won't get lost. They are full of tips, ideas and inspiration.
