OK - After thinking about it last night, after posting up the latest pics.., I decided NOT to use that UGLY black box as the electronics holder.., ( It was NO where near scale, and After all thats been done so far with this build, It just didn't work for me..) SO This is what happened this morning.......... Decided to build one from scratch, and make look just like the 1:1's setup... MUCH better..!!! Then I started the tube doors......... 3 Hours later, and this is what I had.. The pins are only temporary.... And before anyone asks.., With the way this builds taken shape, do you think I would NOT have them open..!!! Last edited by 51WillysJeep; 09-06-2008 at 09:12 PM. |

After digging around out in the boneyard this morning, .. ( aka WAY in the back of the garage buried in a dusty old box..), I FINALLY found what I was looking for....A good old, used and abused piece of American Muscle (1:10th scale Parma Chevy 350 V8 ) Will have to wait and see whats in store next, BUT so far It mounts up real nice..!!!! Next up is to have it sent out to the machine shop, to be ported and polished.... Last edited by 51WillysJeep; 09-08-2008 at 07:29 PM. |

OK - Time to really step it up a notch, and get this thing done..!! After looking at pics of the 1:1, I cut up some styrene and started making the rear "brake light" area - Looks like 2 Jeep Wrangler taillights were used here, with a raised metal cover that they're recesed in...easy enough to make.... Next- cut it all out, sand it all down, and mount that sucker up.. ( will get fully detailed once the O.D. is layed down..) You can also see in this pic below the "U" pieces of aluminum I bent up., and drilled and tapped into the frame... Then I started thinking about the front end again.., the real 1:1 Clampy is pretty beat up, and isn't running any front bumper, and the Warn winch is recessed pretty deep into the front as well.... Hmmmmm.... SO.. after measuring my MSD Aluminum winch, I came up with a plan... LOSE the front bumper, and start chopping and filing metal, until I had closely resembled how the real 1:1 looks.... It will look completely different painted.., and honestly, that step is NOT that far off.... Stay tuned..!!! |
