Default Trail Finder

Had this a while and thought i would post the build on it.
Its long!
The start

I printed some pics from RC4WD for reference.
Dont do as i did here, the motor and servos need to be mounted first otherwise you need to take the tranny out.

I went for the Novak Goat brushless system(changed later)
Note the collet on the gear shift shaft has been replaced by a Tamiya Hotshot front bumper hex mount. It has more meat on it for the screw to bite. Also took the internal springs out the shocks

Looking a bit new with planty of ground clearance

Originally had the radio gear in a plastic box on the truck bed but was a pain to change the battery or get to anything,so later it went on the chassis.....plus dready said it looked like a hearse!:-P

Took my gleaming pride and joy High Lift body and started weathering it while dready was busy making the roofrack for me

Since running this ive changed a few parts...electrics etc.It now has a set of Gmade shocks minus the springs.Brushed Integy 35t....
Had to adapt the early version body mounts to get the top on

How it looks now with the dready roofrack and scale parts...and a bit more wethering

Love this pic...has the predator look about it....oh the self indulgence!

Thats about it i think......til the 3link version turns up

what bungees?...oh them, never really noticed them!

Hopefully the new softer springs will sort the shock problems out when theyre released.......but yeah, they had to go! They do look good though.

The springs were removed and the kit soft leaf springs were used.
You wont get any suspension travel if you leave the springs in

Thats good to know.
Will they be anodized or coated in the same way as the axles?

I received a set of red leaves from RC4WD today, and im impressed.
Wasnt too sure on the red but as my trucks red, they dont look out of place.
These are perfect for a layered set up.Being so soft they allow you to use the helper leaves, making the suspension less prone to tweaks and bending.
Im not going to try these on their own as i know i`ll wreck them in the end.
The difference in flex with one long helper added, compared to the kit main leaf,is very noticable.
I chino`d my main leafs before to give more flex, and i think if these were chino`d,you could probably have a three leaf set up thats still pretty flexible.

This is how much flex there is compared to the the 3link version. As you can see theres nothing in it,and remember, these are with one long extra leaf underneath the main one.PLUS they`re not worn in yet
I know these are only shown with two wheels and tyres under them, but its just to show a comparison.

and i`d like to thank RC4WD for sending these

truck looks great... excuse the newbie question, but what tires are those?... I didn't see in the thread

I'm tossing up the idea of building a TUndra when it comes out or making a Trailfinder... I'm leaning towards the 'Finder

Hi,the tyres are Rock Crusher.Well worth getting the red springs, you wont be disappointed. They`re not as bright red as they look in the pics, the flash makes them look bright.
