Someone else gave me the idea of turning down the TLT shock shaft to accept the smaller mini size rod end. I think that would look great. Still not a fan of TLT shock performance though.........

It's definitely getting new rubbers. I'm leaning more towards Trail Doc XLs though. I'm also going to set this body aside and get a new hilux body and mess with that becuase I have a feeling I'm going to end up doing some chopping as this body progresses.

Like the looks of your u-bolts. What size rod did you use and what size die did you use for the threads?

Slapped a bed on it to make it legal for saturday's comp. Got a short little video and have pics I'll post in a while.

Pics!

Didn't do much to the truck. Ran a 65t lathe with a sidewinder, CC BEC, Futaba 3305, and 2S lipo. I want some more wheel speed but I didn't have a 3S.

I have to comment on the outcroppers for tires too. I ran then with NO weight in them and FULL foams and was really surprised at how well they performed. The rocks had some dew on them and were pretty slippery but they really performed above my expectations.

As for how the truck did, it's a great starting point. The bed got hung up quit a bit which won't be a problem with the tube bed. I need some more flex out of it for sure. Not much more as it did well but there was a lot of teetering going on. I'm thinking some folding rear shackles might do the trick. I'm also thinking about giving some delrin leafs a try.

Ok won't be to much longer and I'll be tearing this down to get started on the other things I've wanted to make for it. Going to use a new hilux cab so I can do some chopping on it.

Thinking about trying to make a bumper out of abs or styrene. I was going to try and make the winch motor on the bumper but after doing some searching I think I'm going to do a bumper like this but without the tube up top.

Got the fair lead and hook in from scale offroad

For the actual winch I'm going to run a monster. 300oz :nice:

I'm going to try this stuff for winch cable. Looks like a synthetic line on a 1:1 and is rated for 50lbs

Here's a naked shot of how I ran it in the comp.

You dont see too many Toyota's with the sleep (OG Bruiser beds) anymore. I like it alot, though flat bed would be sweet too. I am a big fan of the sleeper look. Got one on my shelf right now ready to be built up!

Great looking truck keep it going!

got some repro parts in and got a new hilux cab to chop up and do some styrene work to. I have some shocks in the machine shop that should look nice when finished

Anyone know where to get the round servo horn for the 1/4 scale 815bb hitec servo? I can't find it and my servo didn't come with one (which is probably why it was clearance)

I'm also unsure of how to do the rear window on the cab. The window I have doesn't match up nicely.

How'd you know that was me!?

Let me know what you find, seems like all I could find were the cross style horns. I haven't looked at the dubro horns yet though.

Hilux body and some detail goodies came in the other day so I've been doing a little here and there.

Did some trimming up front to make room for the new bumper. Not sure how much I want to take off the fenders yet.

Been hacking away at some styrene for a while now. Figured I'll do a little detail on the back of the cab since it'll be visible.

Set in place to see what it looks like. I'll smooth it out all out after the panel is attached to the cab.

Ok made some progress. Rear wall is mounted in the cab, mocked up the window and interior. I was supposed to get some black styrene this week to start on a bumper but never got around to it so I started playing with some styrene I had. Ended up turning out pretty nice. Might just have to try and dye it or something.

New ride height. If I want more lift out of it I'll use lift blocks under the leaf springs.
