Fun Buggy Well I've had some down time from working on my FJ tube project and went looking for ideas. I went to Petersons 4Wheel and first thing I saw was Fred Williams and his Project Fun Buggy. After reading through his build I decided this was gonna be my scale build. Plus its gonna give me something great to use this in. "thumbsup" Eritex Atlas Transfer case. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01014.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01016.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01019.png Heres some links to Fred Williams build of the real thing. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/project...ild/index.html http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/project...ild/index.html http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/project...ggy/index.html http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/project...ild/index.html |
my first hump was getting these made with out a cnc machine or welder http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y_chassis_.jpg so I measured up, drew it out on cardboard, traced it onto my steel, fired up the band saw, gouged out 4 pieces then put a drill bit through each one to come up with these. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01113.png also tagged each frame hole with a slight counter sink to give the effect like the originals. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01115.png for the top pieces just cut 2 thin slices and whacked some holes through them. ( even center punching my marks it seems i couldnt keep them straight :-( ) http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01123.png bolted in a couple of pillow balls http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01117.png and threw a couple pieces of stainless through them http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01122.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01118.png fired up the Mapp gas http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01125.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01126.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01128.png once the steel changed back to its normal color the filing and sanding began and whalla my first obstacle was done. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01132.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01135.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01136.png |

hump 2 was gonna be the front shock mounts and keeping as close to original as i could. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...ildsheet_m.jpg so i cut up some inner and outer pieces and brased them up the same width as a normal pillow ball. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01155.png cut and trim a blank piece for the top ...... can even say i put my blood into this one lol http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01156.png blew some holes in them and sanded every thing down. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01157.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01158.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01159.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01162.png little stunt shot for mock up and thinking http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01164.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01163.png http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b.../ADSC01166.png |
