Can you give me the info about where you sold your soul to the devil? That would be great, thanks.

Great stuff masher! This thing is going to be awesome. It looks like the damage really will be compareable to the real thing. But then you would have to keep the weight of the rest to scale too. Like 2 kg for the whole thing. Maybe an exocage would be cool to keep it driveable longer.

Looks great.
I'm sure like a real truck, it will depend on how severe i roll it. I must admit it is getting very rigid the more i add to it. I have a feeling it's going to hold up really well.

Why would i want to protest my truck? LOL! Seriously, i don't see the point in going through all this trouble to make a body that will get damaged only to keep it from getting damaged:?. I do see the point and some day i might do one with an exo but this one is going to get wrecked.

I think this is going to be pretty light so I'm hoping the weight ends up being realistic. i won't know until the finished product of course.

as for the exo.. see above.

You're joking right?

Well i got the chassis problem sorted out.

I figured out the problem was that the hump over the front axle was back to far, so to remedy the issue i started by cutting off the front spring mounts

Then welding the chassis to a bar to keep it strait and maintain the overall distance.

next i cut out about 1/2" just behind the front cross member

then i made a single cut on the flat section in the middle of the chassis

then using a strait piece of tubing

I tacked the chunk i cut out behind the hump

Then i welded it all up including the hole for the shackle

Once both sides were welded i cleaned it all up. it isn't perfect but this chassis is only temporary anyways.

after it was all cleaned up i welded the front spring mounts back on and re-drilled the holes for the shackles adding boxing plates inside.

In order to align the springs to the axle perches properly i bent the shackles to jog the springs over.

and finally here is how the cab fits with the modified chassis

I'm pretty happy with that. Don't mind that the cab and bed are not aligned, the cab is getting body mounts to level everything up.

Now it's onto the cab mounts.

Thanks, I thought about quicker ways to work around the problem but just couldn't make myself do it.

I got the cab mounted!

I used the same technique as the bed mounts by making them out of thin sheet metal

but the difference this time is i added tabs to the sides and top to allow me to weld them to the chassis verses brazing, why? because i can fuse the metal with the TIG for a cleaner, factory look... and i suck at brazing!

you can see how clean the fusion can be.

here is how the chassis sits right now

with the mounts done i drilled the holes and affixed the cab

The whole thing came out real clean inside

for the bolts i decided to try small 2MM stuff.

Considering the strength of the material i'm sure the body will fail long before the bolts will. plus the size it right.

and here is a shot from the bottom

the mounts are actually a bit out of scale but i had to take some creative liberties because of the shackle location. I am going to trim the ends down though, they stick out a bit too far for my taste.

I'm more concerned about the body than the chassis right now. once the body is finalized and some testing is done i'm going to concentrate on a more scale accurate chassis, I mean REALLY accurate.
