Default Doorless Dropbed Hilux

Did this one about half a year ago back when everyone was building hilux's
Spent ages waiting for emblems and the finalised hummer beadlocks.

Most of the parts are rc4wd gear, with a handbuilt chassis and r2 based gearbox to make room for the full depth interior and bed.

Not much of a crawler, I geared it up with a modified motor for bashing, but it really needs brushless

Hope y'all like it.

Didnt really take many buildup pics, but it was a straightforward build.

Heres what gave it all the scratches - I was going to grab it... but didnt

WOW, that is awesome! I have an opening door cab that I have been sitting on for years trying to figure out how to get the floor even with the cab, now that there are TCs out I want to go to work on it but I think I would rather go door less

This just became one of my top 5 favorite Hiluxs, love the front bumper too

Glad everyone likes it, it was prettier when it was mint - but I do like the driven look and it should clean up pretty good with a bit of touchup paint (Hobby shop around here doesnt see many crawlers or scalers so I will probably have it in there on display for a while)

Thanks, It started out as another clone build with the sliders, bumper etc before I got into the styrene work. Took ages to get the door openings to look half decent, kinda made it up a bit. ended up making my own dash for it aswell. It seemed a bit weird taking the doors off - its not like I put a roll cage or tube doors in so this is just one unsafe hilux

floor in the earlier stages:

seems like more trouble than its worth though when most of its hidden. The cab is actually screwed on and the bed lifts off as the battery sits under the front part of it. Was a real struggle finding room for everything with the deep bed and cab.

This truck was kind of my prototype for the Disruptor kit, figuring out the chassis and sizes and stuff - The disruptor chassis also allows for a full drop bed with the low shock angle etc, and the chassis plates are very similar.

I tried to keep the chassis similar to the real thing, both the profile and the width - wider at the back and narrow infront.

to get decent ground clearance I rebuilt an r2 tranny, Ive only got a good picture of the plastic mockup though. And I ended up removing one set of gears for a speedy ratio.

Its built pretty beefy and now that its got beadlocks I can actually drive it - before it would rip the rock crushers off the rims whenever I turned on concrete:-(

bed when it was mocked up with cardboard:
