Default 1.5's on range rover sport

A long time ago (probably weeks knowing how my memory is, lol) I tried a 1.5 with a reduced XL on the rover sport. Looked like poo.

BUT, I wanted to try it again with these cool Kawada 1.5 wheels I got. So I blew $45 on Mud Thrashers since they were slightly shorter than the XLs, at about 4". They look good in that I think they're a bit more scale looking than the trail docs and more square from sidewall to tread.

If I would make one suggestion for RC4WD is to make the sidewall thicker as its REALLY soft.

only slightly smaller than a standard trail doc

looks pretty good to me

man, these things are SOFT. they fold over pretty easily. I stuffed the 1.9 foams back into them too.

I'm going to run them thursday for a quick test and report back.

yeah i got my thrashers in yesterday, and they are insanely soft. especially the sidewalls. the feeling can best be discribed is that of a 18yo titty

Nice modification, I think they look a touch wide but that could just be me. These tires are real soft, definitely need a good foam for sure. I stuffed some Pro Line 1.9 memory foams in mine...they feel good but I havent had a chance to run it with them yet.

That looks much better. I kinda wish they made those tires taller. I'd grab a set.

Those are great looking wheels, but I'm not feeling it on the modern Rover. This is probably the only time I'll ever say it, but the bigger rims look better in this case.

Those do look sicc, but Stu may be on to somethin. Gotta roll dubs on the Rover, but they would look awsome on my Chevy.... Wanna Trade

The mud thrashers are super soft just sitting on my rig they get all wrinkled up. I only drave them a bit I like em, but wish they had thicker sidewalls.

How does making them 1.5's affect that? They look like they still fold alot.

they DO fold a lot, even at 1.5. I agree the 1.9's look good on the rover but only the smallest 1.9 tires look good on there (trail docs, hilifts). All other tires, even the other smaller 1.9's look too big on there. at least the 1.5's give me more options for tires while still maintaining a relatively scale look. The rover doesnt look good with huge tires.
The thrashers at full 1.9 look horrible on there, but look good on the montero.

I would prefer a slightly bigger wheel but less than 1.9, but I'm working with what I have. I'll live with these wheels a bit and maybe paint them glossy black later if I think that would look better.

thursday I'll test them out under real trail conditions but a quick run in the yard tells me even with the stock, uncut 1.9 foams these tires fold a lot.

Looks great man, but they do look a touch too wide. Moreover, I also agree with microgoat, that it looks great with the 1.9's. But if staying with the 1.5's, it would look better if the tires were a bit narrower.

thats funny. they're the same width as the trail docs, just more square at the shoulders...

Probably the squareness, but just the size being 1.5 and still being the same width looks a little off. Make sense?

But if they perform better I say keep them.

I really really wish rc4wd would produce their 1.55 center lock and tire.

yes, I ran the ones from the ford before the ford was done. they are marginally smaller than the 1.9 trail docs.
