Default new tranny for tundra hilift?

i want to start my first scale build and i really like the tundra hilift, but i REALLY dont like the way the stock 3spd tranny hangs so far down below the frame. is there another tranny that is smaller and easier to conceal underneath of the truck. im not really into speed so theres really no use for a 3spd. just want to figure it out before i go ahead and buy the hilift. otherwise i will have to come up with something else to build

ya i used an r2 and it damn near bolted right into the frame rails. you just need to make some 1/4" or so spacers for one side

have to look for naked mounted pics... but here is a kind of crappy shot. it only hung below the chassis rails less than 1/2"

I heard of people using R2 trannys in there setups. Also a member on here mounted there 3spd on its side but he had to make a custom mount on his to do so

I am currently building a modified 3 speed for these, I have a hilux HL. I will have 1 inch of tranny hanging below the frame rail which is way less than stock, this is not a sideways mount, butchered tranny, I simply moved some gears around and made a custom rear tranny plate from two stock pieces. Tranny still bolts up the same. Only problem is you have to notch the frame for this mod but it looks and performs like a stock unit, will post some pics when I get it done. I am about 50 percent done now.
