Hey Guys - I got the inner bed ribs all cut out and installed today, also had a chance to trim the front wheel wells just like on the 1:1, I also got the driver and passengers side windows cut out today too..Tomorrow i will hopefully be able to get the bed's side steps done, and tailgate completed - time will tell |

This is looking Awesome! I see you do the strips the smart way! I made the mistake of cutting them first then gluing in place.. thats one of those, so easy it was stupid of me not to think of it things... |

Heres a small update from this past weekend.. Got more done on the bedsides. Heres the stock "Toyota" stepside, which just wasn't going to work for this "Chevy" build.... So out came the saw and ....... Believe it or now, these new side steps i made up actually took some time to create, and then get mounted "right". Its hard to tell from the pics, but i didn't glue 2 pieces together 90 degrees from each other to make them, I heated, and bent some styrene into the shape of the step, and then cut and glued the sides on..It was actually a royal pain to do, but it came out great, and NOW it actually looks like a Chevy Bed... |

I've always prefered the fleetside to a stepside, but that's some incredible fab work!

Damn, I always somehow miss the start of these great builds?! awesome work on making the two different bodies go together. Mating styrene to anything other than styrene is a pain but you pulled it off really well. Staying tuned. |

Damn, great job so far! Are you going to clean up the fender flair lines to look more like the Chevy ones? Either way, it's phenomenal work! |

Hey Guys- small update from today... I thought about running the grill sticker that originally came with this body, BUT that would be TOO easy, plus its not the same grill thats on the real 1:1 - U.A. K-10, So out came the Styrene..!! ( Again..) Heres a few hours later - Now- Thats BETTER..!!!! After cutting it all out and sanding it down, It was time to fit it to a custom made outer frame, that will also eventually hold the working headlights.. A few more hours later, and I had this... Believe it or not, the hardest part of this was cutting the old lexan grill out of the body in the EXACT shape and fit of the new styrene grille.. Its not glued in yet, just press fit ( yes- its that tight of a fit, which works PERFECT..!) More to come soon Last edited by 51WillysJeep; 02-08-2009 at 06:29 PM. |
