Petersen 4Wheel & Offroads "Ultimate K10"

Hey Guys, OK- heres that "Mystery" project I told you about.... ( Clampy was going to need another "Ultimate Adventure" Alumni to go wheeling with...) This is the NEXT one I've been waiting to build ( seems like FOREVER now..!!) Back when I first started the "Clampy" build, I had NO intentions of letting it get as crazy as it did, but one thing led to another, and I went all out on it.., Well, This one isn't going to be quite as big a project..."thumbsup" Clampy is going to get wheeled, but NOT real hard... SO I wanted to build something I could wheel the hell out of, and not really worry too much about the body damage, or breaking stuff on it... SO what better candidate to build than Petersens 4Wheel and Offroad "Ultimate K10" project..!:lol: ( straight body panels, need NOT apply here :mrgreen:..!!)

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7928.jpg

I've been doing TONS of research and finding TONS of pics of this truck, so duplicating shouldn't really be that hard at all..!!"thumbsup"

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t..._chevy_k10.jpg

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t..._chevy_k10.jpg

Here is my starting point......

A NIB Proline Chevy body, and an Original Tamiya Hilux stepside bed...

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7913.jpg

Notice the styrene bed is about 3/4" wider than the stock body, so running it "as-is' just isn't going to work, SO I'll be fabbing up a custom drop bed, and then be joining the 2 halfs together...

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7914.jpg

Here I'm checking final measurments from a scaled down Chevy stepside bed from a model I have before i cut anything......

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7916.jpg

:shock:Tamiya Purists please LOOK AWAY NOW..!!!!!!:shock: :ror::ror::mrgreen::mrgreen:

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7917.jpg

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7918.jpg

The chassis I'm using for this build is a Montana Scale Designs "BB-51" , i'm also using locked Tamiya TLT axles, Locked Stampede tranny, and 55 turn Integy Lathe motor. I've also got something "planned" for the wheels and tires, so the MSD's and 1.9" Hammers pictured won't be on the final version.... Here I'm checking the final body mounting position...

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7919.jpg

Then it was time to go under the knife just like the bed did..!!!:shock::lol::lol:

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7920.jpg

And, heres the general direction this thing will be taking...still got ALOT of custom styrene and lexan body work to get done, and the chassis is also going to be re-built as well....

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7923.jpg

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...7/HPIM7922.jpg

Thats all for now - Stay Tuned.... Here we GO again..!!!!:mrgreen:

Thanks Man - The stock clod body is actually the wrong vintage for the U.A. K10.. The real truck is a 1975, not an 81-87 like a clods style.. ( fenders are different, hood and grill are different, etc..) Plus I've always kind of wanted to graft together a styrene and lexan body from scratch..."thumbsup"

Inclodneato 01-16-2009 09:10 PM

gotcha! i love your builds man nothin comes close to touching them!!!

Jester666 01-16-2009 09:34 PM

Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Chris what are you doing to me? You beat me to the build. How am a suppost to compete with your craftman ship.
Well now there will be two Ultimate K10 builds. I'm using the same hilux flare side for my build.

I look forward to seeing this build.
