Very cool, I am sure Mike and Marlin will be very honored You definitely picked two of the coolest first gen toyotas to do up in scale versions :P |

What chassis are you planning on using? Homemade or store bought? Also have you planned out how/where the electronics are going to be laid out? That is the big hurdle that i am facing now using the X-Trail. I am not going to have an interior to start, but i am using a 3speed . I also am going 4-link front and rear, with possibility of running a leaf setup in the front down the road. |

1. Welllllll, i will be making a steel frame. 2. The electronics will most likely be under the hood. 3. The battery will probly be a 2s lipo under the box???? 4. I will be doing leaf spring's front and rear. 5. ?????? I haven't decided if i am going to have an interior?????? | |

Both projects are looking good so far. I'm still amazed at all you guys with miultiple projects going on at once. I really like the drop bed, are you planning on using that as the mounting point to the chassis? Oh, yeah. Have you considered CAC soft8s wheels, they look pretty close to the ones on Mikes truck. They are 2.0 but don't look too big. Soft8s on my truck. Last edited by cutlaSS; 01-19-2009 at 04:47 PM. |

I thought about them, but they are not in the budget:-( Yes i will be using the drop bead as a mounting point to the frame i will try to male the mounting point as close to the 1:1 as i can... P.S. i was talking to big mike over on marlin crawler.com and was very honored that i was building a replica of his 1:1... |

How hard was it to make those bead locks?

| Not very hard (fake bead locks) just find some round stuff around the house and trace it on to styrene, Then drill some holes, and cut very small round pieces of styrene to use as mini bolts. Then press them into the holes and glue them in styrene solvent. On second thought it wasn't that easy but you will get the hang of it after 3-4 hours of putting the little pieces in..... Oh and your finger tips will hurt for about a day after.... |
