Default Washroom Fab & Garage Shop presents: Blizzy Black

Greetings Rc Comrads, I have been sitting back trying to get my creative juices flowing and build something I haven't seen and try my hands at some body work. After a few weeks of searching and watching The Chop Shop Guru of Hard body plastic surgery "Hoosierdady" do what he does , he inspired me to try what I learned from watching him and I am glad to present : Blizzy Black ! It is a tamiya Hardbody Blackfoot 3 body I recieved from Kunas the great ! Ordered up another and went to work. It shall be a tedious build that will include a GCM chassis and working on the motor. Axial tranny steeled up with RC4WD wheels and flat irons tires which may change in the future. Now on to the pictures!!!

Both bodies side to side .

Both Bodies from the back.

Everything lined up and ready for finding cut lines.

Looks like I am ready to start cutting up for real!

Both bodies cut.

Pre- line up and view.

Tabs glued to pieces on both bodies to be connected , sorta like teeth!

Both halfs done. Glue cured and ready to be put together.

Up close shot of roof tabs.

The last roof tab glued and cured.

Where I am at this morning.

Will add more pictures soon. Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks to all the great builders and members here who post there builds up to keep others motivated to keep pushing! Till next time.....

Its for another project that is in the mix. Or I may just get some more 1.5 steelies for back up for the truck.

Kinda up in the air about what to do to the bed of the truck as well as start fabing my back bumper. Also will start some body filling later today..

Great start man . Making a crew cab isn't easy, but you're on the right track. What's your w.b. going to be? I just installed my GCM kit today, very nice product IMO .

Going to be touching @ 11.9 inches damn near @ 12. I am not even thinking about getting into assembling the chassis by a long shot! Trying to get my extreme detail on this body.

This was a good weekend over here at Washroom Fab and Garage Shop. Management let me spend all most the entire weekend working in between dealing with the lil one and cooking. Put my Vp 8* goodies on my rig only to find out they will not work. The tires rubbing on the arm of the steering . So thats put on hold till replacements come. Any how did my bondo thing. Never done this before but I am only retarded part of the time so it shouldn't be that hard. I will let the pics tell the rest:

Side shot of more bondo!

Where I am at now. And the x marks where I need more work at.

Roof is done as smooth and leveled as possible.

Doing more bondo and sanding work today and hope to prime out tomorrow. Then sand . Yall know the drill ! Anyhow , going clean the Garage to make room for our prized vehicle set to arrive in the shop from far! I can't wait. This week more goodies to arrive and hopefully should be out for our maiden voyage since upgrades and all should be here. As usual all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Ok. Bondo body one more time.

Another view...

Now it is in the paint booth getting its second coat of primer. I am thinking flat black or maybe gloss black! What do you think?

flat/satin black with some bloss black graphics of some kind. Either scallops or flames maybe. Get you a Mouse sander from Walmart and that will help alot with the sanding part. 120 and 240 I think will do.

Going in a lil while to pick one up even though I do not mind doing it the old fashioned way!!! Thanks teacher also on the suggestion. Trying to find 2 different blacks . Trying to finish the body by tomorrow evening to start with making my body mounts. On this build I am all over the place with this build.

More pics coming soon.

No worries bro. The contrast between the two black finishes are subtle enough to not jump out at you, but noticable to the point where if you stop and look you cant miss it. The opld fashioned way works, but power is better. Just be careful to not over heat the areas you're sanding. Keep moving from one area to another. For the bigger areas that need sanding, just pass over the body maybe 5-6 times side to side, and then go at a angle 5-6 times, then go back and forth 5-6 times. Its called cross sanding and its the only way to get a flat roof IMO. Just take your time sanding so you dont over heat the plastic. If you start seeing balls of plastic coming out of the sand paper, its to hot. If it starts to smear the plastic instead of it having a flat finish you're use to seeing, to hot. I also will use a wet wash rag to dampen the surface too. Dont drench it with water, but just dampen it to the point that it cools the plastic off. A little water goes a long way in this case. Keep up the great work man

Thanks bro ! Needed those words of encouragement ! You have no idea how many hours I have sat watching Hoosierdady . Plus trying to find something I haven't seen no one do yet had me focused on making this one happen and done to completion.
